Right, break over (thank goodness). Getting trickier for Fab with returning injuries………

Bart
Veltman JPVH Igor Pervis
Adingra Baleba O’Riley Mitoma
Joao Pedro
Welbz

Harsh on Rutter maybe (may start instead of Joao Pedro and run himself ragged for an hour perhaps), and Dunk if he’s fit but Igor has been decent. Suppose Joao or Rutter could play wide and both start with Adingra on the bench

My 11 the same as that but include your last suggestion of Joao Pedro on the right and Rutter no.10

Moder plays in Poland, and Minteh in Tunisia, tonight.

After the last international break, the players who had a long journey back didn’t start. I expect it will be the same again for Mitoma and Estupinan.
I suspect you may be right, although I do expect Mitoma to start this one with Estupinan on the bench. I suppose it depends on Ferdi's fitness too though

Might be more limited with options this time. Potentially no other left back if Ferdi is still out as well as potential cover like Hinsh injured too.

I think Fabian learnt after the first international break that he needs to chill with the long travellers. He started many of them against Ipswich and then four days later against Chelsea, and they did not have the energy to do well in those.

After the second international break, we went to Newcastle and won 1-0 with NONE of our Africans/South Americans/Asians starting... and that is similar to what I expect this time.

There was 2 weeks between the Ipswich and Chelsea games. We'd played Wolves in the league cup and Forest in the league in between those games.

Baleba started the Newcastle game, he did however only play one game in that international break after being injured in Cameroon's first game (he was an un-used sub in the second).

Right, bit of a brainfart there.

But general thought remains... I think a lot of our long travellers will be on the bench.

I’m not so sure as we’ve got injuries to consider. As I said above possibly no real alternative left back with both Ferdi and Hinsh injured, which would mean Pervis probably has to start.

We could possibly play with a front 3 of Joao and Georgino either side of Danny Welbeck which means Adingra and Mitoma can start on the bench but is Joao if enough to start games yet?

That also brings up questions about midfield options with MOR maybe not yet fit enough to start, Baleba and Hinsh (as already mentioned) possibly injured. We might have limited options there which would mean Georgino possibly having to play the 10 role, which could mean one of Mitoma, Minteh or Adingra having to start on the wing, if JP is fit.

If everyone is fit then yes we’d be resting those players but with a few key injuries, especially to players like Ferdi and Hinsh who can cover a few positions we might not have the options to cover resting everyone who has travelled long distances this past week.

mostly agree with OP’s lineup, just a few adjustments, mitoma and pervis rested, start adingra on the left and gruda on the right, as for who plays left back, absolutely no idea if ferdi and jack are injured. lamptey maybe?

Think we had quite a few injuries back on the previous occasions as well no?

But sure, there may well be exceptions like in the Baleba case. I just think if we're able to make the choice, we'll go for the choice that didn't travel the globe.
Certainly difficult to predict though, especially since we don't always know what shape players return in from their international adventures.

If Lewis is back I think we could see Igor at left back. I'd go far to avoid the whole "lets burn out Pervis" thing from the past.

It's a heck of a problem to have and I'm sure FB is going to get criticism for tinkering with his line-up, but you've got to somehow keep all that talent happy, without the incentive of trophies and mega wages the big clubs can offer!

Having said that, I can't see Adingra starting! I think we need a bit more muscle against Bournemouth..

If he is injury free and just not match fit, surely the best way to get him fitter is to play him from the start, if he needs to come off after 60, that's fine. I can never see how coming on for the last 5-15 minutes can ever get someone match fit.

Because players may not be fit to play even 60 mins after a lay off. For some a gradual build up in matches coupled with the how they are training mid week too builds up their fitness.

When MOR got injured against Crawley we brought on Mark O’Mahony despite having the more experienced Evan Ferguson on the bench. That was because we knew Evan wouldn’t be able to play 85+ mins so at that stage he wasn’t an option.

MOR got half an hour against City, which is probably more than the club expected so that is a positive. It doesn’t mean we should immediately jump to playing him for an hour plus though. A couple more appearances of that length would probably be what the club are looking at for him at first.

Harsh on Rutter maybe (may start instead of Joao Pedro and run himself ragged for an hour perhaps), and Dunk if he’s fit but Igor has been decent. Suppose Joao or Rutter could play wide and both start with Adingra on the bench

This except I would 100% start Rutter over Adingra.

Rutter is one of those players I will always try and find a place for in the team and I'm still not convinced by Adingra, especially as a starter. He's a useful sub though.

Adingra would be my 5th choice at RW with everyone fit. (Minteh, Gruda, Georgi, Ferdi all ahead of him).

He is back up to Mitoma on the left IMO.
