I don't follow the youngsters as closley as some, but he seems to have been in decent form and it does look like he's out of contract in the summer.

Guru @AZ Gull will know more, obviously...

Actually - it looks like he signed a new contract in the summer just gone.

It looks like both are true. He did sign a new contract the summer just gone, the Premier League retained list shows him as an extended contract. However it appears it was only a one year deal so he's out of contract again this coming summer.

Transfermarkt reports that too - but still lists the end of contract date as June 2025.

One of several 'senior' U21s who could join the Loanee Tracker thread this January; as well as Duffus, there's Peupion, Turns and Samuels for example. Possibly 'shop-window' loans, which we may result in development compensation if they move on permanently - or a small fee if they sign an extension to 2026.
Similar decisions to be made re: Rushworth, Jackson, Nilsson and Sima, I guess.

In his cameo in the Europa League I thought he looked pretty useful but he’s been nowhere near the first team since. I’m not going to lose any sleep if he decides to move on.

Could absolutely see him leaving. A few years ago he'd probably be playing first team football for us right now, but things have changed. He's 20 in a month and competing with top, top class talent in all of his positions. If a relatively big club offers him first team football I think he's off like a rocket.

If we can extend his contract (or negotiate a new one) to 2026, we could send him out for a half season in January and hope he's a nice little earner.
Or tie him down to 2027, lend him out for 2025-26 season, could be an even bigger earner (if he doesn't develop sufficiently on loan to trouble our decision makers about keeping him for the first team). My guess is that the latter is unlikely, so let's make the best loan arrangements to get the best price when he goes. Right now we wouldn't get much for him.

I’ve only seen him play in the EFL Trophy game against Crawley and he looked well marshalled that day albeit he scored at the end. He looked to have a few more attributes than O’Mahony against the same opponents a week later (albeit he also scored). Are both behind Sima?

Seems strange if we do let him go now that he's started banging them in for fun. Personally, I'd like to see a loan or 2, followed by a crack at the first team. Always feels like a big win when we bring someone on from the academy.

Agree. Strange that ACD joined us from the Arse because he could see a route to the first team and he's literally only 2 days older than Duffus. It sounds like Duffus can't see one and isn't going to sign another contract as you'd have assumed it would have been done by now.

I'd completely for forgotten about Amario. He's only had 71 minutes across 5 games for Blackburn so far, so not sure how much of a route to the first team he'll get after a) this loan and b) we get back up to full strength on the wings.

Would imagine he returns in January.

Ayari also struggled to get game time with Blackburn. Not quite sure I trust their ability to identify a good footballer.

Don't think he made any minutes in competitive games for our first team before moving right? Meaning we could loan him elsewhere.

I think he looks a better prospect than Gyokeres at the same age ( I am not suggesting he will reach the same level) and is really starting to show some potential. We should be in absolutely no hurry to push him out the door, unless it is for a quality loan having signed a contract extension.

That would be great! For us.

Problem is we're going to have a real hard time convincing him to sign a new contract and go on a six month loan to Umpshire Wanderers if Roberto calls and says "hello, come and play first team football for Marseille".
