Thought it was a clear penalty, and a yellow had to follow. The “double jeopardy” guidelines only apply to straight red cards for professional fouls, so irrelevant here. Thought the ref had a good game.

Good second half from England but obviously it all hinged on the red card, and their game plan was kaput from that moment.

I agree with that. Fair penalty. Sending off seemed harsh.

I know what you mean, because the penalty and red card seemed too much and I think a lot of refs would have kept the cards in their pockets, but I think the card was correct.

Seen plenty where the second yellow is not given, as mentioned double jeopardy shouldn't have given it in my opinion. Penalty and no card for me in line with the rules, maybe. I just want everyone to go by the rules, every time, whether we agree or not.

Bellingham was still chasing the ball down on 88 minutes. He is a generational talent and we are lucky to have him. All people on here can do is moan at the cards for chirping at the ref. Really?

They wanted their country to lose and Pulis-ball to get a result.

I've just realised I'm 20 minutes behind everyone else. I'd been out for a walk and watched it faux live. No wonder I thought the penalty to England comment odd.

The rules re double-jeopardy are for red card offences. Not bookings.

The foul is a yellow.

Double jeopardy is an irrelevance in this case. That’s for no straight red because of a genuine attempt to play the ball.

Accurate, objective refeering.

None of the erratic PL stuff in helping teams when it suits them.

Some red card offences - violent conduct and serious foul play are never exempt for example. But yes, double jeopardy has no bearing on second yellow cards, and never has.

The rules are, it was a second yellow. Double jeopardy isn't a thing for yellow cards.

So if (without already having a yellow) he'd gone in over the top, an out-and-out leg-breaker, a red card any hour of the day, it would just have been a penalty, but no red card because of double jeopardy ..............but 'just' a fairly innocuous foul, and it's a second yellow and a red and a penalty?
Sounds like the double jeopardy thing hasn't been thought through very well!
