I suspect most people actually have no problem with people having different views. It's rarely a such problem in real life after all. I think people are not moving to bluesky because they want to be surrounded by like-minded people, they are moving because they are sick of the toxicity and abusive nature of many of the interactions on twitter. The free speech brigade seem to be only really interested in the freedom to offend. Regardless of where you stand on that topic, it's a certain type of person that wants to stay in that kind of environment.
Having said that, I also don't really understand the view that it's some kind of weakness to want to associate with people who share the same views. It's human nature. Nobody on twitter ever changes their point of view, engagement is largely pointless, so why stick around with a load of people who think you're an idiot?
Nothing wrong with different versions of political. Every social media site, unless locked down and very aggressively moderated is likely to represent society in a broad way with people from every viewpoint and spectrum. That is in my view unavoidable and not a problem unless, like X the owner fires most of the people responsible for keeping things civil and reinstates a ton of very untrustworthy accounts. Of course if one thinks Trump is fine, dandy and wholesome and that Russian bots flooding X with rubbish regarding vaccines etc then I suppose one could consider X as worthy. But surely the sole reason for leaving Twatter is because it’s become politically toxic and then the first thing he announces in this new paradise is he’s politically liberal, why brings politics into it at all It must be a millennial thing
My SOLE reason for leaving Xwitter is the bot armies and the insults without ever any sanction. It could be left wing, right wing, center wing, or no wing for all I care. But surely the sole reason for leaving Twatter is because it’s become politically toxic and then the first thing he announces in this new paradise is he’s politically liberal, why brings politics into it at all It must be a millennial thing
The main reason for me leaving Twitter is the spamming/trolling by blue-tick accounts of many of the accounts I folllowed. But surely the sole reason for leaving Twatter is because it’s become politically toxic and then the first thing he announces in this new paradise is he’s politically liberal, why brings politics into it at all It must be a millennial thing
So with all these people leaving X for Bluesky let’s hope they don’t turn it into another shitshowThis gives a good insight into what's happening....
Guardian - What is Bluesky and why are so many people suddenly leaving X for the platform?
This is my fear. I can already see loads of people piling in very keen to get very political. Which is fine, but I hope there's a way to stay out of that more effectively than there was on Twitter. So with all these people leaving X for Bluesky let’s hope they don’t turn it into another shitshow
Bluesky is being moderated and several accounts are already suspended, rather than promoted as they were on X.So with all these people leaving X for Bluesky let’s hope they don’t turn it into another shitshow
Thank you, that’s a reliefBluesky is being moderated and several accounts are already suspended, rather than promoted as they were on X.
I don’t know why you bother fam, from what i’m seeing on this thread there are many using both of these platforms side by side, now the old mental health is taking a double kickingThis is my fear. I can already see loads of people piling in very keen to get very political. Which is fine, but I hope there's a way to stay out of that more effectively than there was on Twitter.
I think there is sanction for insulting other users on BlueSky rather than the no consequences on X.So with all these people leaving X for Bluesky let’s hope they don’t turn it into another shitshow
Nothing wrong with that. The problem (for me) that developed on Twitter was the focus on monetisation since 2022. This meant that people paying for their blue ticks got elevated to the top of the comments of any tweet, and most of them were either trolling for engagement or using automated AI response to spam as many popular accounts as possible. The result being that you'd have to scroll though a load of abuse and/or nonsensical AI bollocks to read any sort of thoughful response. This is my fear. I can already see loads of people piling in very keen to get very political. Which is fine, but I hope there's a way to stay out of that more effectively than there was on Twitter.
