It gets worse and worse. I've just found this chap on Twitter(X):

Matthew D. Taylor
@TaylorMatthewD

Can't seem to post his latest post.. but it reads...
"Yesterday Trump announced he's nominating Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense. Hegseth's a prominent Fox News personality & veterans advocate, but also has strong ties to the Christian far right that I've not seen fully exposed yet...
(terrifying thread and many images of Hegseth's Crusader tattoos, one of which is "Deus Vult"... meaning God mandates the Crusaders' violence.)

(yes yes.. This thread is useless without pics I know).

Past caring TBH.

America is about to descend into a hell of its own choosing, I feel sorry for the sensible ones but it needs to live through what the madness entails to see a way out of it. We’ll suffer too, unfortunately, but we at least have the option of closer ties with Europe (screw the headbangers and their failed Brexit project). Let them tear down their public health systems. Let them rip up their education infrastructure. Maybe they’ll learn the lessons that sticking weirdos in charge leads to bad outcomes on things.

Let’s see how their firm belief that they’re the greatest nation on earth and should be immune from global forces impacting their fuel prices holds up after having the lunatics smash up the asylum. Maybe they’ll learn, or maybe they’re f***ed.

Often the US has been a foreshadow of what may happen politically and socially in the UK a few years down the line. Trump's Presidency and Gov Appointees make an Alliance between Nigel Farage, Boris and Tommy Robinson look on the cards, providing they offer jobs in Gov. to this Party.

Its like every loon that has done Trump a favour needs to be rewarded.

Somehow the era of Bush and Rumsfeld wasn't so bad after all.

He's already appointed a Defence Secretary, so maybe Vladimir Putin could be Secretary of Offence?

False scare claims? On the last couple of days it has come out that over 100 local authorities are asking parents to fill in what gender their children identify with, on their infant school applications. They are talking about three and four year olds here. The children may identify as a boy or a girl (or a teddy bear or a pony or Thomas the Tank Engine, none of which had an available box to tick).

Jesus talk about being outraged at nothing

Bang on. No need to be outraged about what is a waste of space on the form, kids that age do not wake up thinking about how they identify let alone get into conversation with anyone about it. Most adults don't think about it either. The only people who think about identity are bored adults with too much time on their hands.

And the girl who recently got a 6 match ban for asking the large bearded lady she was about to play football against, if she was really a woman. If she's frightened of being tackled by a 15 stone female with a beard, she shouldn't be playing women's football.

I know children don't wake up thinking about how they identify. And it's my belief that that is a good, indeed essential, thing. Some mental illness is caused by children worrying unduly about things that they are not yet ready to worry about.

Anorexia is a specific example of children worrying themselves into illness - and no-one, so far as I know, is suggesting that an underweight girl who identifies as fat, should be taken at her word.

The handmaid's tale unfolding before our eyes.
I particularly enjoyed Margaret Attwood posting a meme which referenced the HT characters. Only for a trumpist to then w*nksplain what the author of the handmaid's tale really meant when 'they'wrote it

Great Post, really crystallises how I feel about things. Good to see Starmer and Macron apparently in agreement on a way forward earlier in the week. Alignment with mainland Europe is our only option, whether as part of the EU or not!

We're kidding ourselves getting anything out of a trade deal with the US, they want to go after our healthcare system and flood our market with poor quality agri products.

In an increasingly protectionist world trading with near neighbour makes economic and environmental sense

That is utter nonsense.

Anorexia is typically the last attempt of a victim of coercive behaviour to have control over something. Often the coercive controlling behavior involves abuse. Sexual abuse by a family member for example.

Maybe stick to proselytizing on subjects about which you know something?

If that were true, then anorexia could easily be cured by removing the victim from her family. I don't think it's as simple as you make out.

I think my point was that it isn't as simple as you made out, and does not lend itself toy your narrative.

It certainly isn't caused by children worrying themselves into illness (with the implication being it is their silly fault - that's a 1950s narrative albeit you are from Burnley).

And, yes, when the trigger in abuse and abuse stops there is a chance the person may survive. But very often the damage is done, and starvation becomes a set solution to all feelings of powerlessness.
