[Albion] Pascal Groß the slowest player in the Bundesliga

They have loads of defensive injuries at present. Gross played right back on Saturday and Emre Can was centre back.I noticed he has been playing at right back recently, or in a much deeper role than he did for us. What a waste
What was he at the end of last season? 33. So many times the person pressing the opposition keeper and back line of 89 + minutes.
Hes not a speed merchant. He's a problem solver. He'd be amazing now if he would be happy with a late on in the game problem solver role.
That said, his absence means a lot of these youngins have had to step up and find solutions for themselves.

It's like they've never seen him put a speedy fullback on his arse with a couple of Gross turns and then slowly wander off with the ball before putting it on a plate for a striker

Yes, I saw that too. There’s no way he will keep up with a flyer but is still probably positionally good enough to deal with most wingers.

Speed isn’t everything, Dave Armstrong could accelerate 0 - 60 mph in 2.5 seconds, but never got the hang of crossing the ball.

I think the timing of Gross' departure from us was perfect. He's a legend but we've moved on.
I think we lacked his experience in some of the drawn games, but particularly the defeat at Liverpool.
Not sure how easy it is to move on from a current German international…..
Have we become that good?

Won’t have a word against Pascal, club legend. He’ll come good.
The great Jan Molby was another example. He could control a game without moving more than a couple of feet from the centre circle.
A tad before my time, However . . . If you look that cool, in an intergallactically good kit like that. You're a winner.

Get him back! Pascal is the player to set an example to the youngsters. Not f***ing Eric Dier as someone suggested on another thread yesterday.
Although wasn't it Pascal that "ran into the crowd" at Elland Road?
No that was Uwe Hünemeier (and he was pushed).

Sometimes in football you have to take one step back to take two steps forward. That was the point we'd reached with Gross and it will eventually be the position with Dunk.

I’d definitely have him back. For the same reason that the club signed (injury prone) Lallana and Milner. He’d revel playing with pace, after last season’s naff squad ANUS horribilis. Probably as cover for Rutter.

I agree, but when you have such a young side, you need to get the blend of youth and experience right. We have undoubtedly needed/missed that this season.
Pascal would have provided that and whilst I agree all good things must end, this is one instance, where that is not the case for the moment.
I agree as well re Dunk, but at this moment in time, the same thing applies IMO.
