I often get mesmerised by drummers - I once saw David Narcizo of Throwing Muses doing bass drum with his right foot, hi-hat with his left, and he was drumming with a stick in one hand and a tambourine in the other that he was managing to shake whilst also hitting drums and cymbals with it. And backing vocals. That's about nine things at once!

If you are into your drumming this guy has been a bit of a YouTube sensation.

Personally I've got a little tired of the obsession with double bass drum like it's some sort of Olympic sport where all that matters is speed and complexity.

This is 'the best'

This is my favourite (drummer) (today)

It was only when I saw him live that I realized I was in the company of genius. Peel described the ending of one Hatfields track Peel session as the sound of someone throwing a drumkit down the stairs.

And an honourable mention for this wonderment

I'd completely forgotten Hatfield & the North - thanks for jogging my memory!

As a kid sitting infront of my parents record player, Stewart Copeland's playing on Message In a Bottle was the one for me.

Unbelievable level of groove and feel, and those 16ths on the hi hats near the end, that blew me away as a chiddler.

Anything by Ringo, the most underrated musician in history - except by top drummers. Unmatched taste & feel & close to impossible to copy his groove. He made every single song 'move' better

Today's little known drum fact. Al Murray ' The Pub Landlord ' is a half decent drummer and is also a director of The British Drum Company who amongst others supply the kit that Iron Maiden's Nicko McBrain uses.

If you've got the time this interview is worth a listen :)

A very versatile drummer as well considering how many genres the Beatles performed

What about the stunning drumming by the "Crystal Palace Balaclava clad ultras" for their song "woah woah woah woah woah"
