Does anyone have an idea of what utility manhole cover this belongs to, I phoned BT and they have no record...any guesses?

West is BEST
It could be anything.

The type of cover doesn’t determine what it provides access to.

Lift it up.

Likely an inspection point for water supply.

It’s a recessed cover. Used mostly on concrete or block paving so it’s flush with the surface.

Looks like nobody has or was needing to access it for quite some time so it’s likely just a pipe junction.

Where is it located?

Could that mean it may not be in use anymore and not on BT records? Overall it's likely some sort of telecoms?

If they weren't forthcoming in the call, then obviously obsolete if telecoms.

But proceed with care. Anyone upsetting trenched utilities faces a multi £k bill from their team coming round to make good. I've seen it happen.

Failing that I do know a crazy Latvian odd job man who will literally do any job for a cash and small bottle of Vodka.

I bet you are all over the re-routed Falcon Brook under Northcote Road Battersea then ?

It runs "down" (under) my road. If you walk down Northcote Road after the rain you can hear the river running beneath.

Maybe we could hire a village hall and I can bring along my projector.

The Interweb is a strange old place - there is a website based in Israel called the "ultimate manhole covers site" - it includes an interactive map of the world showing the location of some manhole covers - unfortunately there are none in Brighton, but there is a manhole featured in Epsom and plenty in London - who'd have thought it ;-)

Can't beat a bit of https://www.iec.ch/world-plugs and it's companion site https://www.plugsocketmuseum.nl/
