Wolves, Brentford and us are supposedly interested as he's a fringe-part player at Bayern Munich now.

The 30-year-old, who might harbour hopes of an England recall with Tuchel at the helm, has made just six appearances and played 141 minutes this season.
Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano have prevailed as Kompany’s favourite pairing and Dier has simply been left watching on.
That being said, TBR Football understands that all of Brighton & Hove Albion, Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers are keeping tabs on Dier’s situation.

Maybe one for a "senior been there, done it and good for the dressing room" role?
No i don't think so.
Don't want any of Bayern Munich's cast offs

I'm not sure he'd add a great deal to the squad in playing terms. But if the club decides it's worth bringing him in as a positive influence on the youngsters, then I'd trust the club's judgement on that.

I can only guess at what any given player's influence on the squad is gonna be. Fortunately, Bloom and Barber don't rely on guesswork. If they think he's worth having around, who am I to argue?
My bold.

THIS "positive influence on the youngsters" you mean?

I think he would do ok for us with taking away the pressure of playing for a top 6 club. He is not particularly quick but neither is Dunk or Igor. Whatever we definitely need to be looking at signing a new CB next season or bringing through a youngster.

or JPVH. Which is EXACTLY why the additions in this area DO need to be.

I think he would be good in a back 3. But he would need to replace Webster in the squad.

Webster’s continuous injuries and the subsequent time taken to get back up to speed is a concern. That’s the only real advantage on swapping them I can see. Webster is clearly brilliant in the dressing room and as a leader but if Milner & Welbz have given Dier the thumbs up, I’d be ‘in’.

I get that. But you are talking top dollar for a centre back who can pass and defend like JPVH, Dunk or Igor but is super quick.

Judging by the classic Hürzeler 2-3-5 formation we were playing against Citeh in the 2nd half, Baleba would be expected to do the running if we lost possession and needed to retrieve the ball. JPVH and Igor seemed quite deep to me giving them the time to get into position before their lack of pace had an impact. With the fullbacks tucked in as defensive midfielders, we had Pervis pace to cover as well. He is our fastest defender in my opinion (on the assumption Lamptey is marked down as a winger from no on).

Milner and Welbeck were different. Dyer is sort of player a team like West Ham spunks all their wages on and then he goes and gets injured.

not sure where would fit. always thought was a player that suffered from being a good midfielder and good defender, never really excelling at either so didn't get the best out of potential.
Always thus with utility players though, good in a number of positions, but excelling in none.

This is a really weird response. You've quoted only part of my sentence, without the conditional clause that preceded it. I didn't say "I think he'd be a positive influence on the youngsters", I said "If the club thinks..., then I'd trust their judgement".

The purpose and function of conditional clauses (i.e., if/then clauses) is really basic English grammar. I'm pretty sure I was taught it at my mediocre state comprehensive primary school. So I'm rather surprised to find myself having to explain it to an adult.

As for that clip, he was trying to prevent his brother from being attacked by a crowd. I'd do the same if I saw a crowd attacking my brother, tbh.

I'd be surprised if we were looking at him because he doesn't fit the mould. Can't remember him being someone who plays out very well, just a worse version of Maguire for England.

I hope it's a no!

So many on here saying no "too slow" who would have wet themselves of we'd got 36 year old Mats Hummels in the summer.

Dier would be ideal this season I think. Senior pro, solid enough at this level, versatile, presumably not expecting to start every game. The two positions we look light in numbers are centre back and physical DM, he can do both
