This isn’t the same, is it. You’re comparing apples and oranges.Neither was Pirlo, nor is Gross

He’d be fine. Of course he would. In the same way Brentford’s English left back or Newcastle’s big ol’Dan Burn would be fine at International level for England… or our very own Lewis Dunk.Arguably, he plays against better players week in, week out in the PL. Most International matches these days are against far weaker opponents.
Joel would be fine at International level.
Surely he shouldn’t be playing for us then?I’d say no. I love the guy, but he’s neither quick enough nor good enough on the ball to play as a RB or a CB at international level for me.
I don’t disagree. I’m just arguing that if he was called upon, he wouldn’t struggle as some folks are saying. He’d be fine. Of course he would. In the same way Brentford’s English left back or Newcastle’s big ol’Dan Burn would be fine at International level for England… or our very own Lewis Dunk.
That doesn’t mean there aren’t better players available for them, or players more suitable to the system.
Look, I love the guy. He’s been great for us, but I’m yet to see an argument that he’d get into the Dutch side at the moment ahead of the other players they have.
100%I have no idea what their options are. But I do think people are overestimating the quality of international football.
Fair enough. But it's only Koeman that hasn't played himHe’s had one cap since 2021. None in his 30s.

Dumfries and Rensch mainly. He’s already played 28 times for them - at 32 I can’t see why he wouldn’t be recalled to the squad ?
Who are the current Dutch RB’s that are getting picked ahead of him ?
And I agree with that. I was lambasted for saying England would’ve been better calling up actual left backs from the Prem in the summer, rather than pushing players out of position.I don’t disagree. I’m just arguing that if he was called upon, he wouldn’t struggle as some folks are saying.
Why? We protect his weaknesses and play to his strengths in a very clearly defined system… international football doesn’t allow for this in quite the same way.Surely he shouldn’t be playing for us then?
Ferdi's stated preferred position, that he was previously playing, was left back. Hence letting Barco goWhy? We protect his weaknesses and play to his strengths in a very clearly defined system… international football doesn’t allow for this in quite the same way.
And surely the signing of Ferdi was a look to the future and potentially replacing him anyway?
