For that much, we'd be better keeping his as a backup
Possibly, I think the ball’s in the player’s court on this one, he can wait until the summer and get a big signing on fee as a free agent, but with lots of competition as other players move on, or he can get a probable guaranteed PL move at least equalling his wages in January and have a contract secured.

I think we’d take a very modest fee and let him go if the player was agreeable

With spend millions in the summer to cover positions after last seasons disastrous injury pile up. We didn’t do that just to move everyone on. Every successful club needs competition for places. So far I’ve seen Enciso should go on loan, sell Lamptey. Three or four injuries to key players and who do we play exactly?
I’d much rather see Enciso and Lamptey come on than inexperienced under 21 players. If needed.

Ah, sorry, I didn't realise he was out of contract (presumably with no option for us to extend).

Yes, but the Leeds bid still pushed up the price that Arsenal had to pay - they had to better the Leeds bid.

The White transfer to Arsenal is not an example of a bidding war.

The Leeds bids are immaterial to what Arsenal would have to pay. What pushed up the price Arsenal had to pay was that by the time they wanted him Ben White was on a newer contract, had played a full season in the Premier League and become a full England international, that is nothing to do with Leeds.

Of course Arsenal would have to pay a lot more than whatever Leeds had bid. No club would accept an equal or lower bid than they'd already rejected a year before when the player has significantly improved over those 12 months.

Full back cover is definitely an issue with us. Tariq can help us on both sides.

I think we need to see where we are placed injury wise in January. My instinct says keep for the season

Agreed, we are not desperate for the money, if a bid comes in that is sensible and Tariq wants to go, then so be it, but otherwise keep the little sausage for now, he's a very good squad player.

With Tariq I think it's likely that he'll stay for cover and leave in the summer on a free.

Full backs we have Pervis, Ferdi, Veltman, Hinsh and Lamptey. That's decent cover but one less and we look a bit thin.

Moder I think will be sold in January, we have so many options in CM, he won't get minutes even in rotation.

This is how I see a bidding war:

party 1 makes an offer
party 2 makes a better offer
party 1 makes an even better offer
party 2 does likewise
party 3 possibly joins in.

You know; toing and froing.

Cucurella. Man. City outbid by Chelsea. White - Leeds couldn't afford him, went to the Arse.
Not Cucurella either.

Citeh took the piss and skulked off.
Chelsea met or exceeded TB's bottom line.
Chelsea may well have bid the same had Citeh not bothered. Nobody will ever know.
