Whenever anyone suggests we should have more points than our current tally, others will mention that we rode our luck a bit in other games and picked up more than we probably should.

So, with that in mind, how many points do you think we should have right now, if match results followed dominance and chances etc.

As a reminder, this is what we have picked up to date:

Three Points

Everton 0 - 3 Albion
Albion 2 - 1 Man Utd
Albion 3 - 2 Spurs
Newcastle 0 - 1 Albion
Albion 2 - 1 Man City

One Point

Arsenal 1 - 1 Albion
Albion 0 - 0 Ipswich
Albion 2 - 2 Forest
Albion 2 - 2 Wolves

No Points

Chelsea 4 - 2 Albion
Liverpool 2 - 1 Albion

Ips forest and wolves should have been 3. +6
Newcastle should have been 1. -2
Liverpool should have been 1. +1
Man Utd or Man City should have been 1. -2

Think we should have 3 more personally.

But also aware EVERY club will think the same. Every season this happens. ‘If we’d have beaten so and so we’d have been x place’ and it’s never as simple as that.

I'm confident that if every Premier League team supporter was asked this question we'd find that all teams (with the possible exception of Liverpool) ought to have more points than they do. To resolve this injustice the league table should be recalculated with 4 points for a win and 2 for a draw (though unfortunately this still wouldn't help Palace by much). Of course this is only a temporary solution and so the points system should be further inflated midway through every season.

Threw away two points against Wolves, but other teams could argue that they should have done better against us. Of swings and roundabouts.

I always like to target an average of 1.5 points per game. That gets you to 57 and a very slight improvement on that gets you into European slot contention. After 11 games we are averaging 1.73 points per game and that gets you to 66 points.
Considering I regarded the first half of this season as transitional. Brand new manager, squad changes, high number of new players coming in etc....I have to say that I am delighted with 19 points. I always expected the second half of this season to be better than the first.
If we are around 30 points at halfway, I can see us pushing very hard for a European place and definitely finishing top six.
If anything, we have overachieved so far, against pre-season expectation, with 19 points.
