Agree, although sometimes it has a ring of truth about it.
However Lamptey certainly had an impact on the game - attacking and defending.

Will always be one of my most well-liked players but I see Fab really tightening up the defensive shape the longer he is here - and that will leave him a fair way from starting 11 maybe even the bench. A difficult decision ahead for everybody over whether he accepts very limited minutes as a squad player like Webster etc or goes somewhere where he'll play reasonably regularly. Not a spring chicken any more so may want regular football

The best I saw him was when he played as an underlapping LB under RDZ (out of necessity). Besides being a fantastic crosser with either foot, he has a knack for finding the right pass on the edge of the opposition box. So, he should definitely just play further upfield.

A good thing about him is that he looks to play the ball quickly which puts the defence under pressure.
Unfortunately these days, rather than under GP, we seem to look to play one on one at the back without cover. This will not work for him, or us, with his diminutive stature.
Yes as a wing back with a solid back three would suit him more.

Nailed on. Comes across as really likable but there's no room for sentiment if we want to progress and win things. I'd love him to turn his turn his defensive skills around but it's just not going to happen and of course the injuries have really been an issue in his progression.

Quality player. Quite far down the pecking order if he wants regular football here. Wouldn't be surprised if he does want to go and/or we are looking to sell.

They’ll be a bidding war in January.
We’ll at least make a profit on the pennies we paid Chelsea. Everton have been mentioned before but as a right wing back, he is a big upgrade on anything our northerly neighbours have at the moment and unlike us, they play with a back 3 and wing backs and our desperate to upgrade their defensive flanks as currently, they are ****ing shite.
The best of luck to him where ever he ends up. Even at Palace.

£3m was the reported fee we paid at the time - ignore transfermarkt (saying €1.2m) who consistently don’t have a scooby.
I think we’ll do well to get that much, but for accounting purposes anything we get really would be another little PSR boost (not that we really need it).

He came to us because the pathway at Chelsea was blocked to him, I think. That Spanish bloke and Reece James ahead of him. That’s not the case here right now. He is a valued squad player and getting games after he has had some bad injuries which he is coming back from. Who is ahead of him here? Joel is good but is basically a CB playing at RB. I would like him to stay because when he comes on he is exciting to watch and usually makes things happen.
There needs to be a bidding war for us to break that margin, I agree. But I think there will be one. He is very decent going forward and can do a good job a right wing back with a solid back 3 behind him.

A deadline was set by Tony.
Liverpool’s bid blew Chelsea’s out of the water (I think it was £10m more or so).
The club choose to sell him to Liverpool after the deadline had expired and put the phone down on the Todd.
Caicedo’s agent threw his toys out (because his personal fee from Liverpool obviously dwarfed what Chelsea would give him) meaning that Caicedo refused the scousers’ offer.
At that point he was staying here but as you say, Chelsea matched the bid so he got his move.
The point is, a number of clubs were after Caicedo and the fee was drastically inflated because of this. Some would call that a bidding war - supply and demand.
For that much, we'd be better keeping his as a backup
