Find this quite a strange move by Amorim. Clearly trusts his ‘team of coaches’ only. However, Van Nistelrooy may have been a good person to give continuity and player knowledge like Crofts at Albion.

They can't apply for a work permit for him until he signs his Man United contract. He couldn't sign that until he left his job at Sporting which he didn't do until after the game on Saturday. It's been two days. Now he's arrived at United he'll sign all the paper work and i imagine the work permit will be granted by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest.

As the FA effectively work under licence from the government to issue the work permits in football, Man United know he'll already qualify for one or he wouldn't have been offered the job.

And there was me hoping it was down to an administrative error, thereby continuing the post-Ferguson tradition of off-field fuckwittery.

Unfortunately not, it's standard procedure. When we first announced Fabian Huzeler as our new manager it was subject to work permit etc.

The stuff with Amorim to Man Utd just looks like it's taking a long time because after it was announced he stayed with Sporting for a couple of weeks, which very rarely happens.

Noises suggest the players really liked him - ergo, the Man U hierarchy decided to get rid. Will potentially get in the way of the new broom

Van Nistelroooy leaves after just four games with a record of 3W 1D 0L and the footballing world think he is the 'next big thing' in football management.
WHY?
Anyone remember Tim Sherwood. NSC was split as to whether we should take him on at the Albion but many thought him to be good following his sacking at Spurs after finishing 6th.
Villa took him and he lasted 8 months, 2 of which were summer.
In 2017 he took Swindon down and was sacked.
So let RvN go off to a lower league club for a season or two to see how he gets on, but he wont because obviously at United he was on EPL wages and he'll expect EPL wages at his next job.
