He was an unused sub in the second as he got stretchered off in the first :(
Yeah but he wouldn’t have even been on the bench if he’d actually been injured. He’d have been heading back to Lancing for treatment straight away.

Baleba being stretchered off was very odd, he sat up on the stretcher as he was carried off.

As soon as they put the stretcher down on the side of the pitch he stood up and walked straight to the bench looking rather bemused by the whole thing.

I don’t think he was injured enough to actually warrant the use of a stretcher but was required to use one because of those stupid rules you sometimes find in international football.

He started the first two games after that international break against Newcastle and Wolves, which also points to the stretcher being a bit OTT.

I’m glad to see that Cameroon have agreed to release him from international duty though. A good chance to do some recovery and fitness work (maybe a few days R&R first as often happens for players not on international duty) at Lancing will be good for us and hopefully he’ll be able to start matches after the break.

he's a bit of an odd one is our Carlos.

its natural to compare him to Bissouma and Caicedo given he is the third reiteration of what we seem to be masters of doing.

He reminds me of both of them. Defensively he is more of a Bissouma than a Caicedo but has the advantage of power and strength. Equally going forward he is much more of a Bissouma but far better at it and seemingly has the ability to finish too.

He'll have a huge price tag on his head.

You’ll just have to believe it or not but at half time @Papa Lazarou called that substitution and @Bozza and I nodded in sage agreement.

He was absolutely incredible. I’m hopeful that in time and with fitness, Baleba and O’Riley can be the new Caicedo and MacAllister.
I did indeed. I felt very smug when I saw him coming on. Not as smug as I felt about 5 minutes after the final whilst though! What a 2nd half.

I hope he behaves himself if a big club shows interest.
I don't know how reliable this story is, but he seems to have his head screwed on right.

"I don’t know if I’m going to be the star or the next big thing. For me, being the star is quite a lot. Everyone talking about you, singing your name? That just doesn’t do it for me. It’s not something that gets me running. I just prefer getting my head down and working on the pitch."

Depends if he has a village that he needs to feed I guess.

If I'm comparing him to anyone then it's Yaya Toure, I think he could go on to be that good too.
At 20, and not fully fit, he's just taken a midfield away from Kovasic, Gundogan and Silva. He bossed it, they couldn't cope with him.
spot on. those bulldozing runs with the ball from deep to the box. its the next step!

Mate of mine a football mad Wolves fan has already put £80m on him as a starting price reckons he could be a generational player.

This. It’s frightening how good he could be with the attributes he has. If his development continues we’ll certainly lose him at some point, but the fee will be colossal.

I hadn't seen this. Good news if he is taking the international break to recover. From The Argus:

Carlos Baleba was also withdrawn from international action as he regains full fitness.

Baleba has been troubled by a knee problem but was fit enough to produce an outstanding 45 minutes in the win over City.

Cameroon agreed to Albion’s request for him to stay in Lancing during the current fortnight.
