1-1 tonight. 94th minute equaliser for Mechelen🤨
Mechelen missed an open goal in the 92nd minute, Mechelen supporters started throwing cups at Anthony Moris when he was lying on the ground, referee sent the 22 players to the changing rooms...came back out after a delay and Mechelen equalised...chaos

So, is today a 'must win' already.
How many go down out of this division?

There are a potentially 3 relegation places. However rather like the league title and European qualification everything is decided by a complicated play off system.

The bottom 4 teams at the end of the regular season enter the relegation play offs. Unlike the Champions Play off though points are not halved. The 4 clubs play each other home and away with the points won being added to their regular season points. After all the games have taken place the bottom two sides are relegated to the Belgian 2nd division. The side finishing top of the play off league (effectively 4th bottom overall) are safe.

The side finishing 3rd bottom play the winners of the 2nd division play offs (sides finishing 3rd to 6th) over two legs with the winners of that tie playing in the top division and the losers playing in the 2nd division.

Not sure today's tie counts as must win, USG are playing the current league leaders and would still only be 2 points off 7th even if they get beaten.

I’d love to know how they worked that one out!!
