I think it will be FM for me for a while. I bought my DAB radios and a receiver for the hi-fi pretty early on - before internet radio was a 'thing'. I'm looking at an internet / DAB+ / CD thing for the kitchen though - as Mrs Bodian is keen on quite a few of the internet stations she gets on her tablet, I listen to CD's - and we tend to have Classic FM on a Sunday. So, something that does the full range will be great. Just a bit galling to make something that's been so great for 20 years basically redundant.

We can get Classic FM on the telly, and play it through the hi-fi in the living room.

The car sounds a bit of a faff though. When we bought this one my only requirement was that it had DAB, for 6 Music and the cricket. I guess I'm going to have to get a new car.....

We've only got a Ruark, which has been fantastic for us.
We can stream our iTunes through it.
Great sound and very stylish, plus British made.

For those of you classical nuts that are interested.
I've been listening to various Classic FM channels on my Ruark radio app, that are broadcast on Internet radio.
They're quite good, don't have the adverts, news or too much yap.
Playlists do tend to repeat, but I switch between channels.

Haven't heard any Classic FM since they switched to DAB 2 which I don't have (except in the car). Must say I don't miss the adverts!

I'm a believer that music, especially classical music, can affect your mind and mood, relaxing being the obvious one.

I'm not a music or arts person but would be interested to hear comments about using classical music for mental preparation for sport, particularly cricket.

When I played, I would listen to Balaro before batting. The tempo changes helped me be focused on tempo changes during my innings. Also GOSBTS by the Royal Marines band got me stirred.

Having background music on whilst sports training, I believe, can make the mind more receptive to learning and performing. Anyone got experiences and recommendations to share?

Question for regular listeners to Radio 3:
I've started semi-regularly listening, either quite late in the evening or when I'm driving at weekends. Now, in the evening it's fine. Some classical music or some fairly random eclectic stuff that I'm happy to listen to.

At the weekend though, I'm bewildered (and infuriated) by some of the shows and presenters. Last Saturday afternoon I listened to them talking about various newly released recordings, which seemed to involve playing about 30seconds from the middle of each piece and then waffling on about how you could listen to the show as a podcast for 5minutes. This week I briefly turned it on and they started playing Midnight Sonata and then talking over it about how interesting it is to listen to these famous pieces properly with fresh ears. Well yes, that would be interesting, if you weren't f***ing talking over it I might give it a go.

I realise that so far this isn't so much a question as a rant, what I'm interested in is whether this is a recent thing or a normal thing or something that people actually want, because I just tune into that station to hear some music, ideally in something resembling its entirety or at least a coherent part of it. Not to hear some people rambling on.

I prefer Classic FM, they just get on with the music.
