There's nothing quite like a bilateral ODI series to get stuck into, this is what I love for.

:O

Steady start for England in the 1st ODI looks like a tricky pitch to bat on, 275 will be hugely competitive.

‘England’

  • Phil Salt (wk), Wicket Keeper
  • Will Jacks
  • Jordan Cox
  • Jacob Bethell
  • Liam Livingstone (c), Captain
  • Sam Curran
  • Dan Mousley
  • Jamie Overton
  • Jofra Archer
  • Adil Rashid
  • John Turner

Why should we be interested in this, if England clearly are not?🤷‍♂️

Disappointing defeat but the sheer beauty of a bilateral ODI series is there is quickly another opportunity to put things right.

Come on boys, you can do it!

Happened once before for England, in a match against Sri Lanka in Peshawar in the 1987 world cup.

England won that game as well, with Alan Lamb winning man of the match. Presumably for his 76 off 58 balls, rather than the single over he bowled as England's 9th bowler in the innings.

In total there have been 19 matches where a team's used 9 bowlers. Rohit Sharma's the only player to have been a team's 9th bowler twice.

I actually found this thread while looking to see if anybody had mentioned New Zealand whitewashing India in India, which must rank up there as one of the great sporting upsets of all time.

The final 10 minutes of day 2 (?) are right up there with the best few moments of sport I’ve watched this year.

India are 78/1, chasing NZ’s modest 235, when Jaiswal has a brain-fade and gets bowled attempting a reverse sweep.

Kohli is down to bat at 4 but doesn’t fancy it, so sends out a night watchman. The night watchman proceeds to not only get trapped plumb lbw first ball, but decides to burn a review as well. So Kohli has to come out after all with 5 minutes left - and manages to run himself out attempting a stupid, pointless quick single :clap2:
