You clearly misunderstand - I would never, ever call peoples' right to vote how they choose, 'stupid'.
I reserve the right to call people stupid for being...well, stupid, as they have proven, today...for the second time.

After all, 'they' voted for this:

• when he incited an insurrection against the government,
• mismanaged a pandemic that killed over a million Americans
• separated children from their families
• lost those children in the bureaucracy
• tear-gassed peaceful protesters on Lafayette Square so he could hold a photo op holding a Bible in front of a church
• tried to block all Muslims from entering the country
• got impeached
• got impeached again
• had the worst jobs record of any president in modern history

Ah yes. The failure to be understood is naturally a fault in others, rather than yourself. Obviously.

Seems you have more in common with Trump than perhaps you'd care to recognise.
You may think so, but I wouldn't be stupid enough to vote for a person with a list like that, or would you consider that an intelligent vote?
I (kind of) get the point you're making (and it was made ad nauseum on the Brexit thread), but if people vote for clearly stupid things, despite the evidence staring them in the face, it's hard to not consider them stupid.
Seemingly nothing, literally nothing changes their minds.

This is the same problem we had with Brexit over here;

Persuading stupid people to do something intelligent is almost impossible.

Persuading stupid people to do something stupid is a piece of cake.
Sadly, it is also seemingly not that hard to persuade some reasonably intelligent people to join in the stupid thing.

(if the stupid thing appeals to their prejudices, or feeds their perceived self-interest).

Trump will now be able to pardon himself of any convictions and quash any upcoming trials. Ukraine is going to lose half of their territory when Trump tells them to surrender because he'll no longer back them. Nato is going to be screwed when the USA drops out. Americans will have to get used to having no Affordable Care Act. What a shit show.

Another one blaming the electorate for being 'stupid' rather than the candidate for being unappealing (to enough).

All the while people sneer and call others exercising their democratic right 'stupid' if it the outcome doesn't happen to tally with their own view, the more this happens.

So in that scenario, you have to wonder who the stupid ones really are.

(And I write this as someone who 100% wanted Harris to win but I'm not ready to call those who think differently 'stupid')
Me neither and i certainly didn’t want Trump to win, however it’s not my country and i certainly wouldn’t call the electorate of another country stupid, i might be persuaded to call people who live minimum 3,000 miles away working themselves into a frenzy over the result of this election a little silly though.

It's a little stupid to think that what he/America does will have no bearing on the future here, too.

On NSC for over two decades...
I really enjoy how they try and describe the demographic who has come out to vote for him.

They are using a thesaurus to basically find nice ways of saying Thick White Blokes

Let's just call them the marginalised majority.

It may seem odd that Trump got in but was it just because opposition was not strong enough. A bit like Boris defeating Corbyn

To be fair, he's backed off the ACA a bit.

On a personal level, if it wasn't for the ACA, I might have gone bankrupt this year. The total for my wife's treatment this year was over half a million dollars. But the ACA requires an "out-of-pocket" maximum for all policies. So we ended up paying around $5k. $5k I can cover, $500k I certainly can't.

And now since my wife has a pre-existing condition, repealing the ACA now (which forbids pre-existing condition clauses), would royally screw us.

Also, don't forget Palestine. Expect Netanyahu to annex the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Is it legal under international law? No. But who's going to stop him? Son-in-Law Jared Kushner is already chopping at the bit to turn Gaza into Miami Beach East.

I work with a few Americans and the general feeling is people are fed up of their cost of living, groceries etc and they only voted based on him “fixing” the economy, all the other stuff like abortions came a distant second and the democrats didn’t really say much about fixing the economy also the stuff the democrats pushed like abortions people want to know why they haven’t already done something about it.
Problem is though. He wrecked economy.

Trump inherited a good economy, he borrowed massively, lost shed of manufacturing lobs and left a wrecked economy (albeit Covid bailout).

Biden spends four years fixing inherited shit economy and rampant inherited inflation which is a global problem and he got it down quicker than any other major western nation and economy now is strongest its been in ages. Getting prices down was next step.

Yet clueless people blame Biden for mess he inherited and fixed and not Trump who they think will fix it

He currently has 71 million votes, with 4 results to go.

That's getting close to the 74 million he got last time around - so basicaly held up.

Biden's 81m is (currently) 67m for Harris.
