Might not be a bad thing what with the amount of absolute lunatics there - it blows my mind how many incredibly uneducated, backward, bible bashing, gun toting, massively overly patriotic, complete nutjobs that live there
It is scary, certainly a country of extremes. I guess that comes from the large population and competitive society 🤔. I lived and worked there for a short time, 7 months in the early 90s, in upper NY state. Met some truly lovely talented people, some professional nutjobs, and had a gun pointed at me twice by police officers 😬. Intense!
It's interesting reading on these threads the perspectives of the guys living there during these recent years.

I've not been for many years. But I know people who have, and they report that it really is like the 'incredibly uneducated, backward, bible bashing, gun toting, massively overly patriotic, complete nutjobs' picture painted.

You mention the large population. You may have a point. I have always thought that with a population of 340 million, they will have five times as many nutjobs as we do, with a population of 70 million. And some of those nutjobs will be five times worse than our nutjobs.

That's the considered opinion of a geography graduate.

You think this is bad? Buckle in for weeks of Trump blustering, whining, accusing, lying and scheming to overturn the result through nefarious scheming.
Yes - but that might be relatively entertaining, as we can relax in the knowledge that he has lost - and watch with relative calmness.

A bit like not worrying about the other team attacking when you're two goals up with a couple of minutes left, you know it's in the bag and nothing much can happen.

oh.

my read is the tight margin leads to a Trump win. his base is more motivated, along with the anyone but a Democrat camp, while the Harris campaign stalled doesnt seem to have energised people to vote for her. she needs a clear margin to capture the swing states and dont see that in the polls, while Trump could repeat 2016 with lower % and over all vote while carrying more states.

I wouldn’t call this a considered opinion at all.

The US is huge and each state is very different. You can’t compare Massachusetts to Alabama.

I’d expect a geography student to have a better understanding of that.

Certainly huge differences in people and attitudes across the regions I visited 👍.
Countries within a country in some ways and I only visited a small percentage of it.

Fcuk off ☹️

Go and troll another thread.
This thread is not yours nor mine. @Mellotron adds valid points to it and you thrash him.
You're no brighter than any fuckwit that can plagiarise.
When I saw you crop up on the official running thread I shuddered albeit quite inoffensive.
Run along and stop trying to control threads. 🥱 🥱 🥱

If you're able to sleep on Tuesday/Wednesday night you're in a better place than me.

Do you really think you'll learn anything staying up on Tuesday (in the UK)? Won't it take until Wednesday morning to have an idea of the result?

It’s getting really annoying now - with most MSM saying it’s a dead heat in key states it’s unbelievable that people on social media, completely unqualified in data analysis think they can call this - it’s all hubris and bluff

I won’t be patting anyone on the back for guess work - there’s literally a 50 % chance of guessing right - it’s just attention seeking -amongst all the noise.

It's like transfer rumours

According to this article a reasonable indication could be apparent between 10pm and 11.30pm Eastern - this would be around 3am-4.30am in the UK. Might as well get some sleep, and perhaps get up earlier than normal (presuming you have a relatively normal sleep pattern)

Like the decision by SCOTUS to uphold the 2022 Penn Supreme Court decision that provisional votes on election day for those that made errors on their returned mail in ballots can be counted.

That decision will not disproportionately help Dems but it will stop them from being unfairly disadvantaged.

I'm not even sure that helps the Democrats. Although more of them mail in votes, most of the erroneous ones are Republican voters, because they're thick as shit.

*deleted expletive*

Melletron and I had a disagreement over how close the election is - he had his say and I disagreed - I didn’t ‘thrash’ anyone - it isn’t me making ad hominem attacks or telling people they shouldn’t post on this thread.

Leave this one to people that actually want to discuss the issues.

Ps I would advise you stay off the Labour and Tory threads if you don’t want to see people controlling the narrative and trashing people’s povs - this thread has been remarkably tame compared to those!
