Midfielder Harvey Elliott is the Reds' only other confirmed absentee.

Brighton pair Matt O'Riley and Joao Pedro have both returned to training and could come back into contention.

Ferdi Kadioglu should be fit despite being withdrawn in Wednesday's EFL Cup exit to Liverpool.

Captain Lewis Dunk may face a late fitness test after missing the past two matches with a calf problem.

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

  • Liverpool are unbeaten in their past three meetings with Brighton in all competitions, winning the last two, including Wednesday's 3-2 victory in the EFL Cup.
  • However, the Reds have won just two of the most recent eight Premier League meetings, drawing four and losing two.
Liverpool
  • Liverpool have started the campaign with 12 wins in 14 matches under Arne Slot in all competitions, drawing one and losing the other.
  • Their only defeat this season came in the Premier League at Anfield - a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest in September.
  • The Reds have lost only one of their last 27 top-flight fixtures played in November (W19, D7).
  • Mohamed Salah has been directly involved in 15 goals in 14 Premier League appearances against Brighton, scoring nine and assisting six.
  • Caoimhin Kelleher’s only Premier League defeat was against Brighton in February 2021. He’s won 12 and drawn five of his other 17 appearances.
Albion
  • Brighton have lost only one of their nine Premier League matches this season, winning four and drawing four.
  • Their sole defeat came away from home – a 4-2 loss at Chelsea in September.
  • Nine different Brighton players have scored in the Premier League this season, the most for any club.
  • Danny Welbeck is vying to score in four consecutive top-flight games for the first time.
  • Welbeck is one shy of 30 Premier League goals for Albion, which would equal the club record set by Pascal Gross.

We never do anything in the League Cup, so we will go out today. How lovely for the fans (and the coffers) to have a plum tie at Anfield though: 7,000, decked out in blue and white, will enjoy the occasion, whatever happens!!!

Always find it best to avoid the first two pages of the matchday thread. And then often, the last 30 or so.
And a lot of the ones in the middle where fans are melting down.
