It’s lazy. Get a baby sitter if you want to go to the pub.

Because having a Free Palestine avatar is really helping the kids in Gaza at the moment.
What’s that got to do with this thread you stupid ****?

This is absolutely spot on. But I think it's parents that are becoming worse than dog owners these days.

I very nearly didn't bother last night because last year on halloween the pub was full of kids loaded up to the eyeballs with sugar making a racket. Glad I did as it was actually very good last night. Only two groups in and the kids were well behaved, sat at the table with their parents, didn't keep running about or up to the bar.

My local is in a nice part of the world so the patrons are quite well healed. That Micky Flanagan sketch could have been written about my local.

I've no problem with kids or dogs being in pubs as long as they are well behaved. I take one of my dogs Monday to Wednesday. The other is a puppy and like a kid gets bored and acts up so he doesn't go. I don't take Coco Thursday to Sunday because I sit at the bar and it's not appropriate IMO to have a dog taking up space at the bar when it's busier. Plus I'm constantly on edge worried that someone is going to step on her. They also sell food Thursday to Sunday and I appreciate not everyone wants to be eating around animals.
I was in a pub in seaford yesterday where two orange botox victims were getting lashed while their spawn ran backwards and forwards screaming. My final straw was watching one of the kids bang a Kopperberg bottle against a metal hand rail trying to break it while they watched on barely flickering a glued on eyelash.

Now kids grow up in pubs and I do wonder if that’s why many of the younger generation don’t drink, having seen that it’s actually just another place where mum drinks Prosecco.
Is this true backed up by research and evidence? I’m 26 and my younger brother is 22. I genuinely don’t know anyone at all from either of our social circles or even acquaintances through work or anything that do not drink at all. Some less than others absolutely, but completely alcohol free?

Nothing. But I was pointing out the irony in your first post on this thread.

You are correct posting on NSC won't change anything for the OP in said pub. But the same could be said about a lot of threads. Fab H doesn't pick his team based on the Team for [Insert team name here] threads so shall we stop them too? I'm sure the head of Southern Rail isn't reading the travel chaos threads and ordering a load more rolling stock and hiring more drivers. In the same way Netanyahu isn't going to see your avatar and think....you know we must stop bombing people.

NSC is place for people to discuss all sorts of matters. You've decide to share a political belief you have. Won't change anything. So trying to derail a thread with a petulant unnecessary reply wasn't called for IMO.

The Longman in Patcham had it right yesterday. Kids Halloween party 2-4pm as its half term week, which was well advertised so you can know to attend/avoid. Kids out by 5pm to make way for the adults ready for the football and the buses they run to the Amex. Perfect.

Since when was this American import of any interest across the waters
To be fair it was the Scottish and Irish who started it and exported it over there. I guess they’re getting their own back.

Yes, according to numerous reports and surveys. Obviously this might not be apparent in people's own social circle. I do away games with my son and group of mixed ages and we're all drinkers - some quite excessively. However, when looking round Unis for him several of the students showing us round didn't talk about clubs and pubs as part of the attraction. One said definitively "there's still loads to do here if you don't drink alcohol like me".

Gen X though. MONSTERS. (y)

I think that the only time I got taken into a pub as a kid was in the Gloucester, which had a childrens room with really creepy wall paintings. Can't remember what I was given to drink, but there was always a heathy bag of Smiths crisps with a blue bag of salt to go with it.

Petulant you say? Actually, as a publican myself, it was sound advice. You’re the one derailing the thread with a comment on Palestine, which has no relevance here.

I can’t add much to what has already been said about the effects of modern parenting leading to this behaviour other than to give some examples of behaviour I have witnessed over the last 2 years or so.

Kids being picked up and sat on the bar.
A nappy being changed.
A kid smacking his mum in the face with a clipboard menu before being punched in the face by his brother.
A kid laying on the table between his parents as they have a conversation over him.

It was the bit where you EXPECT kids to be running round a Brewers Fayre etc (However on reflection if it’s got a Charlie Chalk’s I suppose they are gonna run back to the table)

Anyway enjoy your hols
I didn’t mean I expect to see every kid running around, I meant I wouldn’t go into the one near Sainsbury’s Newhaven for a quiet drink.

I think there is a massive difference in your post and well behaved son in a pub when he was a kid to many of the stories coming out on this thread. Some people don’t give a f****** shit about how their kids behave in public unfortunately
