Kids took me last week, have to admit I was sceptical beforehand, but it was superb.

Adam Jackson-Smith ( Basil) is Cleese reincarnated.

Run now extended until March, highly recommend NSCers of a certain age to go 👍

I remember going to a touring Fawlty Towers meal at IIRC the Metropole about 15 years ago which was quite funny.

Unfortunately I now find that if I watch the original series, I end up cringing and turning it off. Sorry Lenny

I must have mentioned that in the late 80s and early 90s I worked with a Spanish cardiac surgeon who was comparing small mammalian hearts for resistance to cardiac ischaemia. One morning I was chatting with him and out of the corner of my eye I saw a movement. One of the small mammals had escaped his cage. My colleague spotted it and exclaimed 'My Hamster!'

Yes, my colleague was called Manuel.

I think they had to use a JCB to scrape me up off the floor.

Manuel went back to Spain eventually. Nice to see he keeps details of his PhD from 1993 on his web page.

Thought Paul Nicholas was great as The Major as well.
A fun couple of hours.

I saw it a little while ago and thought it a superb trip down memory lane, and really liked the way they wove three stories together, rather than rehashing the episodes as separate entities.

I was shocked after the show when I found out it was PN as the Major - I guess I still pictured him as the curly haired cheeky chappy in shows like Just Good Friends - he has REALLY aged visibly!

Few years back I was at the Fawlty Towers show in what is now the Leonardo Hotel. Never laughed so much in my life. A couple of teasers-
Basil meets us in the bar and instantly takes the mickey out of everyone, in a funny not insulting way.
Led in to the dining room there's a chair missing. Manuel steals other peoples chairs to give to missing person.
Someone was missing a soup, Manuel steals a half eaten soup from someone else (both replaced).
During the evening they enacted just about every FT sketch.
The acting was brilliant.

Sounds great, I’m guessing this was the “Faulty Towers” dining experience thing. The one the OP is talking about is the official West End play, which is three episodes linked together in a traditional theatre setting and officially licensed etc. Trying to get up to see it as and when time allows

Correct.
Just looked up the show. Decent tickets from £80 to £120, and they complain about football.

I think you'll really enjoy it. The set is well done too. Picture hidden within spoiler tags below.
