Sadly if we want to progress I think he will need to move on. He, Moder, Enciso, and Weiffer were all very poor last night. Suspect that Tariq and Moder's days with us are limited now.

He's reputedly on £35k a week and his contract expires in June 2025. I doubt it will be extended so enjoy him while you can. He's an exciting player.

Unfortunately not good enough defensively at RB but is a good ball carrier and crosses well. He's an excellent impact sub.

We could do worse than play him wide right in midfield in away games where we expect to come under pressure.

A defensive liability.
Regularly caught out of position and physically, just too small. Never mind about all the bombing forward, his main job is to defend and he can't. We had a chance last night but the manager made too many changes and a number of players, namely Wieffer, Lamptey and Moder showed their deficiences. Too much sloppy play. The third goal was embarrassing. An appalling clearance attempt from Veltman and then him, Wieffer and Lamptey standing around waiting for Diaz to score.

Isn't he available on a free in the summer? I suspect he'll be a really successful and popular winger at a newly promoted side next season, and I hope he does well (except against us). I think the people saying we've outgrown him are right, but we've just about had our money's worth out of him and I consider his signing to be a successful one overall.

I agree, he's got the pace and trickiness that a Premier League team will gamble on him, particularly if he's going for cheap. Maybe a Leicester, Everton or Forest even, those who don't have money to burn.

He should be amazing after a ten minute cameo and one start this season only earned an assist and a goal.
Clearly should be match sharp after a lengthy lay off and unlike any another player doesn’t need games to get back to form.
So yeah let’s bin him
I'm with you. He was good for an hour - good enough to think he was almost back to his best. Then it fell apart. Not sure we're ever going to get over him being a bit small to play as an orthodox right-back. Possibly someone who's only really going to prosper long term as a wingback which is very limiting. He's a good lad and decent squad player who always gives it everything and deserves no abuse.

Certainly not having Andy Hinchliffe's ridiculous call that the first goal was his fault. Lamptey was just in the position he's meant to take up from Steele's clearance. Moder should have behaved like a RB when Liverpool won that ball and got in Gakpo's face, not amble back and wag a half-hearted leg at him.

The overreaction is ludicrous. Last night his pace and delivery created the best chance for us before we did actually score our two goals, one of which he actually scored himself. He wasn’t at fault for the first goal despite what people are saying and yes he could have been stronger for the second but it does not merit this level of criticism.

We’ve out grown him? Without him Saturday we possibly lose to bottom club Wolves.
I think people need to take stock we couldn’t beat Ipswich at home.
We haven’t looked great this season compared to the games the beginning of last season all seems a bit of disjointed mess at times.
I do think some think we are better than we actually are.

Will TB extend, simply to get value from a sale? The crafty fox.

Yes the game plan means full backs go long, you can't blame the full back of others don't fill in or the system doesn't provide cover. And he might be small but Liverpool are on the very few teams who are going to have a strong, pacy and clinical player as a wide forward.

I fear you're screaming into the void here, given the level of shit another player has received for a single misplaced pass at the weekend!

Lamptey looked lively going forward and he and Gruda combined well in Liverpool's half. He struggled with Gakpo's physicality and looked isolated at times. I'm not clever enough to understand this inverted full back business, but he didn't seem to cope with it as well as Veltman has and he could have done with more support from his winger. Gruda was great in attack and looks capable of getting up and down and doing the defensive work, but the absence of Minteh is notable because he has been excellent at that.

Tariq lost the header that turned over possession for the first goal, but obviously he's not going to dominate his man in the air and it wasn't the right ball from Steele. However, I could see why Steele tried it. He looked around for the usual options to go short and Liverpool were pressing well and he didn't fancy putting Wieffer in possession in a tight space. That's the area that he's looked most uncomfortable. He obviously got more time in the Eredivisie and needs to get up to pace with the required speed of action in this league.

Wieffer needs playing time. I don't think the criticsm of him has been completely fair considering that Baleba looked to be having the same problems last season. Similarly with people saying that Lamptey is not good enough, it's never one player. It's always what the team does to utilise everybody's strengths and protect their weaknesses. We are still in very early days under Hurzeler and he and the squad have work to do to understand our best options and to develop partnerships. Both Lamptey and Wieffer have strengths and shouldn't be thrown under the bus because they also have areas that need improvement.

Bit of a Jekyll and Hyde performance. Poor in defence, but great on the wing. I really like him and hope he stays.

Just over a year ago, this was the player who ran the second half show against Marseille and got us a vital draw, some people would do well to remember that. He was instrumental in Evan's goal on Saturday and scored himself last night. I can't understand why some people are so quick to write him off, he's still an exciting player and can improve for a run of games.
