He is very much in danger of entering Curbishley territory and becoming an irrelevance purely through not accepting another job.

Outstanding arrogance in a way to hold off thinking you will be offered the Manchester United or England job because you took Brighton to ninth in the Premier League (and your replacement went and led the same group of players to sixth and an FA Cup semi final)
That's a bit harsh but there is obvious truth in it. A manager's currency soon wanes and becomes history.

Or of course .... he has enough in the bank to live a comfortable lifestyle for the rest of his life.

if I was a betting man I would say Saints. Won’t be long before Martin is sacked.
That would be a tough one. Their expectation level is high but without the resources. With us he was fortunate in that we were new to the PL and the fans were patient after having two seasons of Chris's practical and necessary football. He would likely have taken us down without the Covid break, he would take the Saints down I feel.

Southampton have no patience. Nathan Jones was sacked within three months.

I have a strong suspicion he’s a bang average manager and that’s not down to any particular dislike of him.
But as long as he doesn’t take another job and just talks the talk instead that remains an unproven proposition 😎

That was irony btw - implying that is why he hasn’t taken up a job yet 🤔

If Palace don't win their next two PL games (Wolves (a), Fulham (h)), then I'd say it is almost certainly going to be his next job and the final nail in the coffin for his time at the Albion.

Outstanding arrogance - probably just happy to take Chelsea’s severance money

'Easy life' and all that.

He's clearly got something about him. But his options are somewhat limited.

Now that United (Ashworth in particular) have laid their Amorim cards on the table, he's not getting that job (unless Amorim turns them down, which would be HILARIOUS), and the only other Big Six club that might consider him is Spurs. Unlikely to be available any time soon.

Then you look at clubs like West Ham. The issue I see with them is that they think they're a bigger club than they are, and they have a squad full of egos, who will look at Potter and go "who the hell are you to tell me what to do?". I don't know if the remaining Dildo Brother and the Baroness will actually be smart enough to see that, so they may appoint him anyway, but I'm not convinced it's likely to be a roaring success.

Saints- hmmmm. Almost certain to go down simply because their squad isn't good enough. Would he risk his reputation on that?

Leicester- turned him down for Cooper in the summer.

Forest- doing too well under Nuno, albeit I for one don't see it lasting.

Ipswich- can't see them sacking McKenna, no matter how crap they are. Similar to Luton last season.

I reckon Wolves might be a good shout if O'Neil goes. Reasonable squad with a good chance of staying up, a decent sized club suitable for his own ego, and close to his family ties in the Midlands.

Edit: actually Everton might work too if he can come to some sort of agreement with their board re transfers etc. A relentlessly tedious team, but one with a decent future coming up once they move to the new stadium. They might actually start to be a more attractive proposition for prospective transfer targets, which they aren't currently hence they're so rubbish. They won't go down so he'll be able to make a go of transforming their squad into a half decent side.

I do hope it's not Palace, whatever happens. I fear he'd suit them down to the ground.

With a spot of Sky Punditry pin money here & there to keep the account topped up. Or possibly taking an easier gig out the English media spotlight such as the Swedish International Team were it to be offered. Aint life grand.......

Exactly the same here. Which makes his weird semi-divine cult status amongst some all the more baffling (but not unamusing at times). I think he’s real “but the emperor isn’t wearing any clothes” stuff and thought long that before Chelsea called him up. And now he’s clearly been found out.

It'd be a good fit, but I just think the second the new ownership come in and decide to remove Dyche (he won't go before then), they'll get Moyes back in to curry favour with the fans.

Wolves is a great shout if he can hack the commute. It's pretty well reported that he has turned down offers that would require him to move the family before.

Don't rule Spurs out though. They've approached him before and Levy is known for sacking his managers at pretty odd times. All it would take is another rant directed at the fans and the hangman will be preparing his noose.

Likewise I'm far from convinced 'yet' he's any more than average. Any next appointment will make or break him. Probably another reason why he's been so picky - not wanting a terminal blot on the CV . Without Covid empty stadiums during that long winless spell plus a tolerant owner in TB, he'd have been long canned from most clubs. His rep is mostly remembered for the late days of 21/22 and early days of 22/23. Particularly the latter when we hit the ground running and his mojo rocketed. Prior to that, form was often sketchy with good highlights here and there.

We had a week in Ostersund in early 2020, and I have to say it is a very nice town with excellent winter sports facilities :)
To which Mrs Potter would say “try it for seven ******* years with a couple of kids and an absent husband. ****.”

Personally, I think he's a really good coach who did superb things in Sweden and did very well with both Brighton and Swansea, but ultimately wasn't really given the time to succeed at Chelsea.

His next job will define how he's seen, but I don't see why he should rush into anything at all. United are a shambles, he may well have learned from his Chelsea experience that going into a club in that state isn't a great thing. I'm fairly sure he'll go to a team that has a decent budget and a degree of security in the PL or an interesting project abroad next
