Something like that, I believe! I only got so far with the calculations before I decided we weren't going through anyway!

P.S. Would be delighted if circumstances caused this to be mocked and bounced!!
I think 3-0 is enough as we’ve scored more than Wycombe.

If it stays like this we’re through if they draw and Crawley win on pends - very unlikely. I think any other result puts us out..

The players don't seem to realise that they need to win by 4, which I think they do.
I think 3 is enough. A draw and Crawley win on pens is the only result that could see us through and we’d be above Wycombe on goals scored.

Wow. Very, very good performance and an incredible result to leave themselves still in with a (slim) chance of qualifying.

When Wycombe play Crawley in two weeks they need a 0-0, 1-1 or 2-2 draw with Crawley then earning the additional point from the penalty shoot-out.

Great effort lads.

Unless it's on head to head, or Crawley and Wycombe have a high score draw?
It’s not - it’s GD then goals scored before head to head. They’d need to draw 3-3 or higher draw I think which is highly unlikely. It’s all highly unlikely anyway but that’s the best result we could have got tonight. A win by 3+.

Just ignore what I’ve said on the thread then 🤦🏻‍♂️

Wycombe beat Crawley Town 2-1 this evening so Albion U-21s exit the competition (they do finish above the cloggers though).

Just noticed that tonight's fixture list included EFL Trophy second round matches so I looked at the games to see which U-21 sides had made it through - and couldn't see any!

Turns out only ONE U-21 side made it through the group stage this year (Aston Villa).

Lowest number of academies to make it through to the knockout stage since they were added to the tournament. The previous lowest was 3 in 21-22, otherwise it's normally 4 or 5 that make it.

Only Chelsea have made it to the semi-finals in the 17-18 season. Otherwise our getting to the QFs last season was the joint second best showing by an academy side along with Arsenal, Leicester and Swansea. I imagine this other competition involving the National League and academy sides will end up with equally unimpressive stats for the youngsters if it lasts more than a few seasons.

The results for the U22 teams in the EFL trophy are disappointing, especially as many of the League 1 and 2 sides often put out sides that are far from their first team anyway, with a generous sprinkling of their own youth.
I hope these two competitions do continue though (with more success for the Albion!) - I like them, even if no-one else does!
