I appreciate your words.

Sooner or later Mr McKay will need to grow a pair and deal with this individual.

I have had a number of people contact me recently via e-mail, phone etc etc and feel the same way about this moderator.

He is nothing short of a menacing stalker. He needs to be removed.

He is sick.
Crikey, Mouldy didn’t phone you did he?

Me and @Bozza have been having a heated discussion on this very thread, but that is just taking the piss

I think that would be a huge mistake for him to make.
That’s not going to happen.

Keep calm, don’t fall for the wind ups, enjoy nsc and stay around.

One is exactly what I would expect from someone with some serious issues, but the other ?

Very, Very, disappointed ???

I generally don’t like nsc’ers (unless it gets criminally extreme eg racism) disappearing. The breadth of views is one of the attractions.

But if it happens, it happens.

Not all of the worst off are OAPs and not all OAPs are badly off. They've taken a universal benefit off millionaires and people with huge houses with no mortgage (Wait, are they wealthy? Should we exclude OAPs from this crack down on the wealthy?) and mis calculated the bottom rung. I've agreed with @Bozza that they should have taken longer over the implementation to make sure that people very close to the pension credit limit get more help. I've also suggested an alternative, which is the government mandates cheaper energy tariffs for the elderly. But that's anti-business retort the thread.
Agree with this.

I also think your suggestion of cheaper energy tariffs for the elderly is an excellent one - the funding of which could come out of the massive profits made by the oil and gas companies.

Astonished that some centre left/Labour friendly NSCers are still having to explain their position on WFP - surely everyone was on the same page with this weeks ago.
As I saif to cjd I've voted Green, Lib Dem and abstained. Had I been a Labour member, which I never have, I would have left when Corbyn was in charge. The old man's a fool. But I like the centre left and Starmer will do far more good and far less harm than Johnson, Truss and Sunak combined. I'm very happy with that position and I'll defend it on here whether you like it or not.
I did. Joined in the early-90s, let my membership lapse once Corbyn took over. 🙂 Abstained from voting or voted Green (never Tory)

I’ll miss the budget as I’ll be en route to Brighton tomorrow but it will certainly be interesting to see if Reeves offsets the WFP with more help for all pensioners.

More fun will be ex-chancellor Jeremy Hunt having a conniption because the Office for Budget Responsibility publishes its findings tomorrow on the ‘black hole’ Labour inherited from the Tories on the same day as the Budget which gives him no right of reply.

Damn you! I think that's a very sensible idea, just like the internet packages for OAPs and other groups. It would also be easy to do as it would be the suppliers problem to regulate the new tarrif. If it came with insulation and energy efficiency updates that would be even better. We already accept this in many areas such as ticket prices and insurance. Some people on PIP also get WFA so would make that easier too.
People on PIP are not eligible for Winter Fuel Allowance

At last. A reply from a grown up

What's wrong with £20p.h, or £40?
Can’t have the oiks getting above themselves, can we? They should be paid three shillings a quarter and be thankful.

I can honestly say I have never been compelled to a take a phone call or write an email regarding about a moderator on this forum.

That said if there is a secret anti moderator focussed dark web, can I please join and do we have regular meet ups in France ?

Don’t plan to make @Bozza’s world more stressful. He’s a good bloke who runs this for our benefit, it can’t be a money spinner. Can’t think of a better football forum, hence why fans of other clubs like it here. We’re here as guests.

Imho keep your gripe solely with @GB, if you must.

Nor do we. Posters are very rarely banned and no one is suggesting banning cjd.

But you’re going to need to posses a backbone if you post how great the UK is from your house in La Rochelle.

Back in Sussex
Firstly, I hope you managed to persuade your mum to go out in the sun this afternoon

It was from one of your posts earlier that I discovered that the bus cap cost £300 million last year, I had no idea until you told posted it. And as you know nobody knows how it's being funded until tomorrow.

I haven't intimated you're a liar anywhere. The WFP we have agreed on many times. You posted that you thought Employers NI would be a problem for SMEs although you have said that you'll be happy to pay your own. We'll find out tomorrow but even with an increase in employers NI it is unlikely to go back up to what SMEs were paying until January this year.

I'm sorry if I specifically aimed my annoyance at you and claimed you had argued against all tax increases when you haven't. This thread has recently turned into a constant stream of posters giving reasons why every single measure that is being proposed shouldn't be implemented and I obviously thought you had contributed some of this which you hadn't.

There is very little, if any recognition of the state the country is in and what is required. It's as @Guinness Boy said above "it's mostly a thread full of people who don't want to pay for public services".

Even you said

But I'm assuming there was an element of tongue-in-cheek.
Yep - we got out, thanks, and it took very little persuasion. The highlight was meeting Libby, a lovely 14-year-old spaniel who had been re-homed from Battersea Dogs' Home. My mum loves dogs and there were loads of friendly ones on the seafront this afternoon.

The last few days have been better. Sometimes you are so desperate for something positive, you are in danger of seeing something that isn't really there, but I do think the newest drug, Memantine, is having a positive effect. Fingers crossed, anyway.

Back on topic...

To the best of my knowledge - which basically comes from 5Live and the BBC website - there have been very few leaks on what to expect tomorrow beyond the likely Employers' NI uplift. So, even if I wanted to talk down changes, and I don't, I wouldn't have much to work with.

As I posted last night, after your persistent prodding, I went away to find out just where the Treasury's income does come from. I'm not sure what I'd have guessed at, but I don't think I'd have been close to the actual split. The trio of income tax, NI and VAT is substantial, and I now have a better understanding of the talk of the straightjacket Reeves finds herself in after pledging to leave them all at current levels.

A lot of stuff needs to be paid for and money needs to be raised. Not many people are going to stick their hand up to volunteer to pay more tax, but the money has to come from somewhere. We're fortunate that, right now at least, we can give a little more and expect to do so.

As long as what is asked of us feels fair when squared up against the raft of changes likely to be announced, I won't be complaining.

Is that in Portslade ?

I don't know Brighton very well, I grew up in a nice part of Sussex.
