The violent left evidenced.

Followed by a few more attempted.
I suspect the bloke who got punched is ok this morning, albeit possibly nursing a black eye and sore jaw. I think we might have heard if there was more damage.

Quite a lot of lowlifes climbing into the greasy political system and quite a prevalence of personality disorders I would reckon. The system delivers this. Normal folks who would probsbly run things better wouldn’t put up with the sh*t it takes to get there.
Yep, you’re onto something there for sure. Look at the local Tories, having to select Timmy for a ward, Reform having a shit ton of candidates with iffy social media, no social media or convictions. Absolutely stands to reason Labour have a few wrong uns too. I don’t think I know anyone (except Timmy) who’d want to do it.

I'll be delighted if Mike Amesbury no longer has a say in the running of our country.

Wikipedia states that Mike Amesbury was previously a career advisor by trade, which could prove useful for him - he might not find it easy to obtain meaningful employment in the near future.

Sewing mailbags and pressing number plates?

Shitty human. I’d like to know what caused him to feel ”threatened“ enough to do that…In Australia king hits, sucker punches or one punch knock out shots are legislated and can result in up to 20 years in prison as they can be fatal. Doesn’t look like it is one, but if it’s anything close he needs locking up, no matter the provocation.

Whatever the other chap said, he had his arms by his side. The first punch from Amesbury is bad enough. But to follow it up as he did with other punches while the chap was on the floor - and possibly a kick - he absolutely needs to see some jail time.

People get seriously hurt or worse head their head landing on pavements/roads after first punches when not expecting an assault. I’ve seen it as juror.

Amesbury can feel relieved, for himself, about that at least.

Didn’t John Prescott, a Labour MP and man many Brighton fans wanted beatified, lamp someone who chucked an egg at him?
No problem with that. He'd just taken an egg at close range. It's all well and good folk issuing the Charter of Appropriate Behaviour but sometimes humans react to provocation. It's natural. I don't think Prescott did anything wrong. It's quite an iconic moment really.

As for Amesbury, it doesn't look good. But the Police will doubtless decide.

Quite rightly - there are some utterly tragic tales where people have died having taken a single punch, often suffering severe trauma when their head crashes onto concrete or similar.

One Punch UK are involved in this area in this country.

Who knows, but the BBC included it in their article. He was heard to say, ‘Don’t threaten me again’, so it may be relevant.
We’ll see.

As a courts expert, you’ll know there’s no excuse for the violence in this case. It wasn’t to protect anyone.

Just typical male violence.

No-one knows, That's my original point. It doesn't look good. But I'd rather let the Police draw their conclusions.
The Police it seems will be able to draw two conclusions, 1. Whether the guy who got punched needs to answer to the allegations of threatening someone & 2. When to charge the Member of Parliament with GBH 👍

I don’t think he’ll be convicted for GBH. There’s a very high threshold for that, explained to us on a jury by the judge.

A courts expert? Where did you get that from?

Yes, I have worked in the CJS, but I’m no expert. I do believe in letting the police do their job, and not jumping to conclusions from social media.
Labour have done the right thing by suspending him immediately and withdrawn the whip.

He certainly should be relieved. I’ve never understood the need for anyone to resort to violence. Even when someone feels they’ve been provoked.

I think it better for the police/CPS to find out the details: we don't know the back story - and I suspect for most of us there could be a set of events that would make that behaviour understandable (if not acceptable).
I suspect as an MP you feel as if you need to have eyes in the back of your head.

Sadly we know only too well that Parliamentarians are threatened by an array of lunatics, some of whom are fully prepared to take a life as part of their crazed view of the world.

And whilst you're quite right that none of us know the background of this incident, the video is damning. There is no imminent physical threat to Amesbury, yet he lashed out at an unprepared man who can consider himself lucky if no serious harm was done.

And, sadly, Amesbury's actions are unlikely to favour other MPs, who may be subject to increased provocation from those who want to trigger a similar reaction.
