[Misc] A thread full of Iconic photos

My first ever job was for a corporate newspaper; we were a publishing agency that wrote, designed and produced it on their behalf. And the photographer we used was Stephen Wright, who took this shot. He must have been in his 30s then, I guess, and was quite happy to potter around taking boring company photos for us as pretty much his sole commission - the days of taking this iconic shot long behind him already, though the income he continued to collect from it was a nice earner. Many a Friday lunchtime pint sunk with him. Nice bloke, though even then I struggled to understand his ‘can’t be arsed really’ approach to his career.

As much as I love this thread it has to be said that some of these are just 'pictures' rather than 'iconic pictures'.
I think one particular poster is responsible for a lot of that…

I'm happy to delete any pictures that are generally not recognized as iconic. The James Stewart one is the denouement from The Rope, and absolutely classic piece of cinema, but I admit the sharpness of the pic isn't great. I will go back and do some deleting after the football later today

Yes. Stand in the corner and have a good think about what you've done.
On second thoughts, this has been a fun thread so please leave your pictures up and don't worry about the fun police. In fact add a picture of an iconic pie from the game.

I’ll delete mine then of Covid.

Not exactly iconic photos admittedly- I just thought they represent a unique moment when it seemed there was a common global enemy.

Ill replace them with more famous images later when I get home - I didn’t realise we were supposed to post well known iconic photos.

I’m pretty sure they didn’t mean you either.

I think that the culprit is our American friend, who finds spamming as many threads as possible with ‘weird’ nonsense irresistible.

Please don't, they're great photos.
