I managed to get TNT included for nothing on my renewal with VM a couple of months ago.

Had the dubious pleasure of the dance with Sky yesterday as 'discounts' are due to come off and the new price would be £180 per month without them for (2 boxes) Sky Signature, Sky Sports, Netflix, BB and SkyTalk. They said 'best price' was £117 which I said was more than I was prepared to accept and they came back with £104.50. Unfortunately we are not cabled so VM is not an option so have settled at the £104.50. Can't say with much enthusiasm.

If you’ve got a smart TV, then can save some money by unbundling Netflix unless you absolutely have to have it constantly available. Just sign up for a couple of months, watch the good shows, sack it off for a while. Can probably reduce the annual subscription by 50% minimum.
Yep and since I cancelled Sky, I've brought an Apple TV plug in thing, which has better sound and picture quality and you can download TV guide app for any live TV. I've also subscribed to NOW TV for sports at £20 a month. A massive saving on the £140 a month I was paying.
I have exactly the same set up. Had to replace my firestick last year and went with Apple TV. I'm a complete technophobe, so no idea really how these things work - but the upgrade in picture quality and speed was amazing.

Yes i felt a bit like that with Virgin but then i went back and added TNT Sports at £18 a month. I think sometimes you just have to accept things. As a footnote i own my own flat in a block of 9 so all i could do was have SKY I kept nagging and they said you had to get a wayleaave agreement which took me some time. I was lucky as that meant i could move from slow internet to high speed. And then to Virgin but the Virgin box is 21 metres from my flat so very lucky.
I think with a decent internet connection and a Smart TV/stick, Sky is rapidly becoming redundant, other than for being able to record things easily - but they're even moving away from that by pushing the internet model rather than hard drive boxes these days. They're good at putting everything on one platform, which makes it convenient if the price is right. Almost everything on there though can be obtained without getting tied into long expensive contracts. After all, there's only so much telly anyone can watch at one time.

Have finally got round to ringing Sky to try and reduce our monthly bill with them. And like others on this thread (or another thread?), they definitely seem to be less willing to drop prices compared to past experience.
Been with Sky for 13 years, we have pretty much the full package including Fibre broadband so it is never going to be 'cheap' but I watch football and F1 a lot, we watch the films regularly and have a 4K TV and I want to see the sport and movies in UHD. Our bill had crept up to £159.00 recently as we were out of contract with everything. The best offer I got at first was £135.50, after pushing a bit more this came down to £123.50.
Here is the breakdown of the package, be interesting to know if anyone has managed to get anything better as a renewing/ongoing customer...?

Ultimate Package (this is Netflix Premium 4K - 4 screens - No ads) – £11.50
Sky Sports – £39 [discounted to £23]
Sky Cinema – £19 [discounted to £10]
HD – £9 [discounted to £8] – I repeatedly asked why they are charging extra for this when everyone is on Sky Q which is HD anyway surely?

150Mbps Ultrafast Fibre Broadband – £46 [discounted to £31]
Tried asking if they can speak to a manager / retentions department to get any better deals but they weren't budging.

Same selections as you but no sky cinema, £75 per month for 2 years. No admin fee.
I’m happy enough with that, used the chat feature on their website this time rather than calling.

Well i’ve now been without sky for around a month. At the moment with all the catch up options, free, netflix £10 ish we‘re not missing it much at all. I know footie isn’t on at the moment, but i really mainly watched that if Brighton were away and on sky, the rest was sort of meh. I can’t always walk round to the pub to see those.
Im obviously paying for BB at £24 per month.
so reckoning i’m saving roughly £700 a year, which will pay for a few flights to some european destinations.

Found out recently that my elderly dad is paying:
£100+ month for Sky TV, inc Sport, HD and broadband, and
£95 for phone line rental (presumably for 3 months)
Been a while since I sorted this stuff, but he can switch the phone line to Sky too, right?
What sort of figure should he be paying for the whole caboodle?

My advice, don't renew, sell your TV and enjoy other things in life. Haha its not for everyone but I gave up watching TV a few years ago and dont miss it a bit.

To be honest I'm dreading the usual 'dance' with Sky which is due in late December. Firstly, I'm hearing they are getting a little immune to the ' threat to cancel ' ploy which usually works pretty well.
However, the biggest issue is the broadband which is clearly over priced for speed since they currently don't do full fibre into the property in my area. Lightening Fibre are offering some brilliant deals and it looks a no brainer. The fly in the ointment is a technical issue whereby Sky mini boxes as part of a Sky Q set up don't like play nicely with non Sky broadband. Lots of reported issues and seemingly the only surefire solution is running Ethernet cable which I'm loath to do as it will look rubbish and have only just decorated.
