Veltman is in the conversation for player of the season so far isn't he?
I mean, Welbeck and Baleba have probably been our top performers, but Joel is in and around there in my view maybe with Geroginio

He's kind of a baby faced assassin! Carries an innocent persona perfectly and yet has the ability to wind up the opposition and fans with his little niggles and gestures. He just always looking get in the heads of opposition. The game is as much mental as it is skill and he's exploiting this side of the game brilliantly. He's been at it for years but this season it's getting noticed with some high profile incidents. I love him. I think he brings some genuine steel to the team

I was saying this at home just this weekend. Long way to go of course and I expect great things from several of our players. But if we press the pause button at this stage of the season and had to make the call, I'd be voting Veltman or Welbeck I think. Will be interesting to see how things pan out.

Given we keep selling our players of the year and it is already known that Joel is likely to return to play in the Netherlands next season anyway, it might be best to give the POTY award to him. Better that than lose Mitoma, Baleba, JPVH, Rutter or whoever.
Seriously, Veltman has been a top signing for us (for very little money) and we will miss his nous when he goes.
