Sorry if this comes across a bit soppy, but I feel I need to say it.

Things in my life have been pretty shit lately - multiple tough situations involving my husband and family, pretty much one after another.

Today I went to my first PL game in five years and somehow it was as if all the shit went away. For those couple of hours all that mattered was 22 blokes and a ball. I really hadn't realised how much I needed that escape until this afternoon.

This! I can accept that football doesn't mean as much to some people as it does to me. However, particularly if it's a bloke it grinds my gears when they triumphantly dismiss with some old cliche along the lines of ' bunch of blokes kicking round a bag of wind ' . My fave retort is ' were you dropped on your head as a baby?'. That usually shuts them up

Three years ago I lost both my parents quite suddenly and had to resign my job ( it was quite senior and I wasn't able to do it while grieving ). One of the main things that kept me going was watching the Albion live every other week (ish) with my youngest son. It's escapism, pure escapism - and boy does it work !

Glad you enjoyed today.

Any win for the Albion is also a win for the fan, whichever way you choose to watch them
The Albion will always be around, unfortunately family is not.
Good on you for opening up about things in your life, it must've taken a great deal of thought to do so.
I wish people would talk more about things.

All the best @Frutos

Although we’ve never met in person I regularly get to see what an incredible person you are. So glad the football worked its magic today.

Can you please make sure you’re at the Palace game in December? 🙏:lolol:

It`s never nice hearing someone in pain , the best i can do is offer another cliche` . Whenever i bump into another Albion supporter it is like meeting a friend , even if you never met them before , but at a game it`s like "The Family" are round , everyone is on the same side for the duration - and it`s rare not to meet a new friend .

Best wishes and thanks for the 3 points :)

I couldn’t agree more… that couple of hours today was better than successfully building a Time Machine and travelling to the Cal Jam to witness Ritchie take the mighty Purps into the stratosphere… and mark me, I don’t say that lightly.

That kind of backs to the wall, underdog, dug out of nowhere victory kind of defines my journey as an Albion fan… it rekindled something in me today, any other result would have felt injust… something was in the air today and it wasn’t Thunderclap Newman.

Awesome.

That's what I've always loved about going to games. For those couple of hours, nothing else matters (much).

I’m a bit of a JCL to football (son wanted to go to matches and got me hooked in my 40’s) - the thing is that there is nothing like going to a live game, where else can you act like a kid and jump and shout and laugh for 90 minutes and forget whatever else is going on in the world?

It is unique I think even amongst other sports (rugby probably closest).

Sorry things aren’t going well @Frutos but glad you enjoyed yourself.

You're one of the good guys Mr @Frutos, never forget how many friends you have at the Albion. Glad you had a grand day out in your adopted neck of the woods. Football eh? What on earth would we do without it
