The first series aired while my Dad was in his last few weeks of life.

It was the last thing we bonded over.

I haven’t watched them again but I think ill revisit them. Perfect antidote to winter.

Comedies like The Detectorists and Early Doors (to name but two) are what we do so well in this country. We also usually know when to stop making them rather than dragging them out like they do in some countries.

I often think about Detectorists, just brilliant TV! So very English in it's humour and pace. I loved the music in it as well. Not to be a downer but I think that version of England won't exist in a decade or so.

I also thought the episode where the picture went back to a Saxon burial of the guys daughter and her jewellery being buried with her. It was a really moving episode ( last of one of the series)

I think The Detectorists has one of the finest endings to a comedy series ever. Its up there with Blackadder IMO (in a different way of course). Just superb writing.
