Had the phone call earlier this week and yesterday collected a rather stunning Datejust 41mm Bright Blue. Mappin & Webb tried to sell me their accidental insurance payable in a lump sum, £1100 for 3 years or £1500 for 5 years.

Does anyone have any insurance recommendations? I’m sure their insurance product is very good, but I hadn’t really budgeted for the additional lump sum.

I recently left the crown open on my Oris Hammerhead by mistake on a rainy day and some water got in.

I thought it was done for but 24 hours in a bowl of rice (with crown still open) worked View attachment 185423View attachment 185424
Sorry just seen this. Glad you got it sorted, but the seals should have protected it even with the crown out on this type of divers watch. It sounds like the seals are perished and probably worth servicing your watch. Alternatively water may have also got in by damage of the glass.

Check with your home insurer first, it may already be covered depending on value but you may need to register as a separate item. Also ask if it’s covered if lost/stolen outside the home, some insurers depending on value also stipulate a fixed safe.
