onto Group C
Reminder that Group A is still open
As is Group B (very quiet over there)
As before, vote for up to two sides to progress. Please think about the players ALBION CAREERS ONLY
United Ireland A
Manager: Liam Brady. Brady managed the Albion through a tough period from 1993-95.
Ireland reached the Semi Finals last year and have since added several players from north of the border. They have enviable strength in depth and quality throughout the squad. The main question mark is about their goalkeeper but he has a brilliant defence in front of him. Beyond that their midfield has a good balance between guile and steel and they have unrivalled firepower upfront.
Star man: Mark Lawrenson is seen by many to be one of the Albion's greatest ever players.
Goalkeepers: Wayne Henderson
Defenders: Sammy Nelson, Stephen Ward, Shane Duffy, Mark Lawrenson (captain), Kieran O'Regan, John Napier, Paul McShane
Midfielders: Steve Penny, Oliver Norwood, Keith Andrews, Gerry Ryan, Tony Grealish, Gary Dicker, Gary Howlett, Danny Wilson
Forwards: John Byrne, Evan Ferguson, Michael Robinson, Gerry Armstrong, Charlie Webb
Possible starting line up:
Henderson
Nelson Duffy Lawrenson Ward
Ryan Grealish Wilson Penny
Robinson Ferguson
France
Manager: Neal Maupay (player-manager)
Entered last year alongside their Belgian neighbours but constant infighting led to a rift between the two. This squad is not short on ability with some incredible creative players as well as steel. However, they lack depth in certain areas apart from in the wide areas where they have an abundance of talent. They still have the potential for near constant arguing and sulking.
Star man: Le petit magician Anthony Knockart was the star man for Brighton when they achieved promotion from the Championship
Goalkeepers: Florent Chaigneau
Defenders: Georges Santos, Romain Vincelot, Romaric Yapi
Midfielders: Alexis Bertin, Therry Racon, Davide Martot, Alex Frutos, Seb Carole
Forwards: Georginio Rutter, Neal Maupay, Anthony Knockaert (Captain)
Possible starting line up:
Chaigneau
Santos Vincelot
Bertin Racon
Martot Carole Frutos Knockart
Rutter Maupay
Scotland
Manager: Mark McGhee. The whiskey guzzler managed the Albion 2003-06 and achieved promotion via the Division 2 play offs in 2004.
It's certainly a case of quantity over quality with this Scottish side, which, true to form is packed full of workhorses but lacks in creativity. There is quality here though with the likes of Gilmour, Murphy, Napier and Bridcutt. They'll be tough to beat and organised at the very least.
Star man: Forward Kit Napier scored 84 league goals for the club
Goalkeepers: Graeme Smith, Stewart Kerr
Defenders: Adam Virgo, Doug Rougvie, Gordon Greer (captain), Stewart Henderson, Derek Allen, Bernard Gallacher, Jimmy McNulty
Midfielders: Liam Bridcutt, Billy Gilmour, Neil McNab, Jamie Murphy, Jimmy Collins, Steven Thomson, Marc Leonard, Craig Conway, Paul McDonald
Forwards: Paul Dickov, Kevin Bremner, Alan Young, Alex Dawson, Kit Napier, Stephen Dobbie, Craig Mackail-Smith, Chris Iwelumo, Gordon Smith, Dave Cameron
Possible starting line up:
Smith
Virgo Rougvie Greer Henderson
McNab Gilmour Bridcutt Murphy
Napier Dawson
Rest of Europe B
Manager: Fabian Hurzeler. The German is the current Albion manager.
Their rookie manager certainly has his work cut out here with a slightly rag tag selection of cast offs. There is quality here though with the likes of Skalak, Kazim-Richards and of course, Dirk Lehmann. Scoring more than a couple of points would be an achievement here.
Star man: The "Coca-Cola Kid" was the clubs top scorer in the 2005-06 season and they were all wonder goals
Goalkeepers; Peter Brezovan
Defenders: Michael Karbownik, Tudor Baluta, Ales Mateju, Vitalijs Maksimenko, Noah Atom, Antef Tsoungai
Midfielders: Alexis Nicolas, Reda Khadra, Jiri Skalak (captain)
Forwards: Lorenzo Pinamonte, Dirk Lehmann, Andi Zeqiri, Maheta Molango, Colin Kazim-Richards, Igor Gurinovich
Possible starting line up:
Brezovan
Karbownik Mateju Baluta Maksimenko
Nicolas Khadra Skalak
Kazim-Richards Pinamonte Zeqiri
