[Misc] Storing a car

Someone I know has a need to store a car for possibly up to a year or two (long story). It can be stored outside and the condition of the car doesn't matter.

They have been quoted £200 a month. Anyone know anywhere cheaper ?

Does location matter? They could store it at mine (SW Herts) for less than £200/month!

What does that mean exactly? They don't mind if it has no wheels or seats when they come back?

Depending on what it is, I may be able to offer you something in mid-sussex

Check Gumtree - loads of far cheaper garages on there.

even an open sided barn must be better than just outside . . . . . If its not scrap already it soon will be . . . . I've never understood the logic of storing stuff outside and not doing anything. . . .they only go one way

Can one use the car now again to keep it ‘ticking over’……how much they expecting to pay for say Shoreham

£200 pm? Christ. I store my caravan when not using it in a Gold award (for insurance purposes) storage site with CCTV, high fences, fob access only etc for £30 pm.

There are some advantages to not living in the South East!

No idea if it’s a suitable option but I’d be able to get them a bit of money off a fitted car cover if that helps.

Admittedly that’s not much help if he hasn’t got a physical place to store it admittedly. Although it would probably help keep it in decent nick for when he wants it back.

I used this firm - based near Firle - a few years ago.

Car storage - classic, prestige and sports - Motorline, Firle, East Sussex

Car storage is not always practical at home. We can keep cars safe and secure from the elements and opportunistic car thieves.

there is a car in gatwick short stay that has been there for at least 3-4 years
