Who will love my children. Synopsis:

“A poor, minimally educated rural Iowa mother, Lucile learns on the occasion of the birth of her tenth child in 1952 that she is dying of cancer. Reasoning that her husband (Frederic Forest) is not responsible enough to take care of her children on his own, Lucile takes upon herself the task of finding suitable foster parents for her soon-to-be motherless brood.”

It's scenes rather than whole films.

Whilst trying to avoid spoilers:
The beginning of 'Up';
Muriel's mum at Muriel's Wedding;
Mr Gower's telegram in 'It's A Wonderful Life;
You know which scene in 'Inside Out'
And which scene from 'Jojo Rabbit';
Brooks in 'Shawshank Redemption';
Bob Hoskins finally understanding in 'Mona Lisa';
Alison Steadman and Jane Horrocks' conversation towards the end of 'Life Is Sweet';
Tim Spall scraping together his taxi float in 'All or Nothing';
Bruce Jones' utter desperation in 'Raining Stones';
'When She Loved Me' in Toy Story 2;
The end of Toy Story 3. 'It's heart breaking' everyone said. 'It wasn't' I thought when the toys' adventure came to it's climax. Then comes the coda and every parent watching is left in absolute pieces.

Sometimes it's contextual - I can strongly recommend not to watch Tim Burton's Big Fish shortly after losing someone close to you.
Gets me every time, though I'd posit that it's the opposite of heartbreaking; and the emotional kick is one of pure happiness. Know what you mean though

'Schindler's List', the taxi scene in 'On the Waterfront', 'A Wonderful Life', and 'The Pursuit of Happyness' to name a few. I never used to get emotional at films but my tear ducts have gone into overdrive since I became a seriously old git.

I'm going to turn this question on it's head.

Tim Robbin's 1990 film ' Jacobs Ladder '. Heartbreaking in that's nearly 2 hours of my life that I'll never get back! WTF!

The Bridges of Madison County for me. Heartbreaking story of chance meeting between Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep turning into a lightning love affair between the two ending in separation to save her boring marriage

I thought I was the only one who’d seen that!
