The Price of Football podcast are doing a LIVE show at Brighton Unitarian Church on Friday 15th November to raise funds for Brighton Samaritans, who do an amazing job for those in tough times.

The award winning podcast is hosted by comedy writer and small club Crystal Palace fan Kevin Day alongside a DULL person who will bore you rigid with tales of amortisation and PSR.

The podcast has had over 500 episodes and 18 million downloads, featuring guests such as the EFL chief Trevor Birch, SPFL head honcho Neil Doncaster, PFA Chief and former Albion goal machine Maheta Molango, government ministers and many more from the industry.

The show has won the best finance podcast award by an accounting magazine in 2023 and been nominated on four occasions for the best football podcast by the Football Supporters’ Association.

It is listened to in the offices of many clubs, resulting in furious emails from club press officers as their club appears on the list of wrong ‘uns as owners are held to account.

Kevin Day is a stand up comedian and writer for shows such as Never Mind The Buzzcocks, A League of Their Own and Have I Got News For You.

Co-Host Kieran Maguire has been described by EFL Chair Rick Parry as “A self styled football finance expert…with no talent except self publicity” and by a club owner as “Football finance’s f***ing Rain Man”.

All the profits from the evening are going to The Samaritans and we hope to announce a guest on the show shortly.

I quite fancy it, though given that my f***ing off to watch football is barely tolerated and my "listening to boring men talking about football" is met with opprobrium I genuinely dread to think what the reaction is to "I'm f***ing off to listen to boring men talking about football finance".

Blimey, what a DULL event.

Can you imagine the people going there? Desperate, DULL, middle-aged saddos, with miserable DULL lives, for whom a cup of Horlicks is an exciting treat. You'd really have to be some sort of weirdo to want to go to listen to a couple of other weirdos drone on about such an inconsequential subject.

I remember at school, we had a careers talk from an assurance company who described actuaries as people who found accountancy a bit too racy. Football finance is for people who find actuaries a bit too full-on and people who want to listen to it must be beyond hope.

Yes, I've bought my ticket

Sadly Mrs Not Andy Naylor is going to insist on us going to see Al Murray at the Theatre Royal as she booked the tickets about a year ago. And what does he know about football economics?
