[Albion] Set pieces - missing Pascal and Billy

Aside from Danny's free kick against Forest (aided by the keeper stepping the wrong way) our delivery from freekicks and corners has been weak this season. Jack's freekicks yesterday were embarrassing and he was furious with himself.

I know he had a torrid time yesterday, but I wonder if Ferdi's delivery would be as good as anyone's?

You have a VERY short memory. As much of a legend Pascal rightly is here I'm afraid his set pieces were pretty poor most of the time and I could never understand why he took EVERY corner, IMO they were the weakest part of his game. I can't even remember Billy G taking a set piece even once!!!

The best striker of a set piece we have on our books is Barco, followed by Minteh. We need to find an eqivilent right footer.

The team is absolutely stacked with set piece takers. Pervis takes most set pieces for Ecuador, Julio Enciso shoots a lot of free kicks, Ayari took all the corners for Sweden during the last camp, pretty sure Joao Pedro was shooting free kicks for Watford... I'm sure I'm missing some.

I think it mostly should be gut feeling who takes them. If you've had a good day and landed a few crosses, go take the goddamn corner. All of these players are perfectly capable of taking a good corner or free kick. Should mainly go with gut feeling. If a player fail with two set pieces, just let someone else have a good.

The reality is most teams don't score that many from set pieces. I dobt are stats for this season are more than average by comparison.

Hinsh generally has a good delivery but had a shocking minute where he couldn't lift the ball x2!

It would also help our set piece taker if they just moved the ball into their optimum strike range rather than where the foul was committed, this works perfectly well for Cole Palmer.

I’ve seen him taking corners, mainly for Scotland but he was taking ours sometimes and tbf he was decent at them. The only free kick I can remember was the one in the Man U game as mentioned and that was a shit effort 🤣

Worthing
Think Jack needed to find a bump on the pitch yesterday, so he could slide his foot under the ball and get some decent height, his deliveries were quite dreadful.

Was impressed with Barco's corners. Shame we shipped him out to Seville :-(
Every thread seems to have someone pining over Barco being sent on loan for a year. He was average at best, what is this weird obsession with having him develop in Spain for twelve months rather than being in the UK to mostly sit on the bench?

Because we scored a couple of corner goals against some Japanese dwarves, and he happened to take a few corners in those games.

But of course a team can't play someone just because he's good at taking corners. Barco for Pervis is like replacing the drummer in a band with someone who is a great triangle player.

lol when was this golden age of good Brighton set pieces? How much alcohol have I drunk to have no memory of it

weird to be missing their non-contribution in this area.
