Would Fabian Hurzeler be a good replacement for RDZ?

For some strange reason, I thought RDZ had won PL manager of the month when he was with us but my memory failed me. Chris Hughton was the only other Brighton manager to win that cursed title …

A surprisingly comprehensive article in the Daily Fail

Well a very unexpected turn around for FH today - a game of two halves against Spurs.

Wonder what he said at half time? 😗

Sounds like listening to his post match interview that Steele and Miller were egging on the lads at half time - clearly came out with a better attitude.

Struck by how articulate FH is.

No positive reactions to Hürzeler‘s management today at all?

Edit I meant that anyone wants to share?

Still a long way to go but are the doubtful less doubtful after today?

The point I was making (albeit obliquely) was that there’s been no end of people ready to write FH off, and yet when somebody points out that he’s done brilliantly there’s absolute silence. Hence the tumbleweed.

As it turns out, I’ve had to explain it in words, so whoever said a picture’s worth a thousand words is clearly as wrong as those starting threads like “is FH out of his depth” or “we look so poorly coached”

Sorry - misunderstood - thought you were referring to Fabian’s tactical mind 😂

I just don’t know what’s happened to us as a vocal fan base group tbh

I am slightly concerned that there is an expectation ( after our spending this summer and the fact we have already had Europa and a 6th place finish) that this is the expected norm going forward and unless any manager performs at that level ‘he’s not good enough’.

2022/23 was an exceptionally good season and this summer was an exceptional high expenditure transfer window partly because of our healthy finances last year but also because of the players that became available as a result of the PSR deadline.

Wasn’t expecting today’s game plan, the first 20 minutes in particular looked really difficult for us.

Respect to Fab who clearly felt that this was what you had to do against Newcastle, and got the players to buy into it. You could see at the final whistle what it meant. He had the courage of his convictions, we played in an incredibly “un-Brighton” way, and won.

Yep.

After that terrible first half v Spurs, today was going to be a real test for FH.

Playing a highly disciplined low block and frustrating Newcastle’s high press was exactly the way to play - we would have conceded too many goals in an end to end match - in the second half we stretched ourselves a bit more but still kept that tight 5 at the back out of possession - Newcastle are just too much of an physical side to beat them man to man - our FBs aren’t ready to cope with the speed of Linton et al - but we frustrated them to the point they ran out of ideas.

Hürzeler’s plan B gave us an incredible win, one I think no one expected.

He maybe young, and experiencing his first season of EPL football but I think many fans will go home today feeling we’ll not only be alright under Hürzeler but could have another season like 22/23.
