Did you go down there? Heard loads about it, my era it was the paradox , how many times did I turn up for the Costa express hanging on a earlet Saturday morning start back in the day 🤣
I didn’t go to Sherries, too young, not sure when it changed to Pink Coconut, I did go there a couple of times but got turned away by the bouncers more than I went in.
The bouncers at the Pink Coconut wouldn’t let groups of men in or if they thought you looked drunk….or multiple other reasons
Pink Coconut and The Suite had a dress code, smart trousers, shirt and shoes, I used to go out in casual gear and wasn’t bothered about dressing up to go in these clubs.

Rape of Hastings, Sussex
Didn't it get requisitioned by Sussex Police the night of England v West Germany in Italia 90 to put a load of language students in to keep them out of harms way when it was all kicking off?

Did the HY have more males than females? I realise a long time ago. I never met a female rocker, but in the sixth form there were a load of lads into Saxon, ACDC.
Only went there once and I’m not sure there was another female in there other than my girlfriend! Didn’t stay too long

Was a regular about 85. It was actually quite tribal at the time as many were very loyal to The Top Rank (they were usually the ones that struggled to use a chair, although the the girl that has now been my wife for 31 years was a regular) or Buzby’s (they were the middle classes) or indeed the superior ones like me that shelled out the extra quid to be constantly turned down by a higher class of “bird”

We alternated between all of them and Coasters. Coasters was younger I think.

I always remember it as a girls dance round the handbag kind of place, a few people from work went there and I frequented a few times, but really wasn't my scene.

I preferred the Gloucester or the Escape (though often just wasn't cool enough to get in)

Gloucester was a good club, I ignored it for ages but really enjoyed it when I went there.

Loved the Gloucester from 1989 onwards.

Escape, Savannah, etc were great for different music, but it was pre the specialist dance stuff/Tong/Oakenfold of the 90’s.

It was never the Bitter End. That was the pub opposite in the lower half of the Queens Hotel.

Did you ever try other clubs on Eastbourne?

We were too young a crowd for Kings … my older brothers went there in the 70’s to ‘meet’ Scandies.

Shimmer, TJ’s, there was one in Seaside Road and in the 90’s we went to one in the South Street area …. Cloisters?

Anyone go to Night Fever in Ship Street?
It was above Smugglers, which used to be called Annabelles I believe

I loved the Gloucester. No dress code. I always remember a Friday night in there in 1996 when I was 18 on the dance floor and 'Daytripper' by The Beatles was playing, bottle of beer in one hand, cigarette in the other strutting my stuff and there on the dance floor next to me, strutting their stuff, bottle of beer in one hand, cigarette in the other were 2 postmen in their Royal Mail uniforms........

It was more Indie around that time, had some great nights there finishing up at the market diner (always regretted it in the morning) and my ears would be ringing as the Gloucester was so loud.

The other one I went to which was different again was the Hungry Years, good on their student night

I’m borderline needing hearing aids for the higher range. I’ve never worked with power tools/in industry … specialists assume it was gigs/clubs.

Check in if you frequented this establishment in the 1980s. Great times and what a time for timeless music and bands
Pink Coconut, Coasters, Busby's and the Top Rank... every Friday and Sat night, we would decamp late from the Maytree... head to the lanes, a few pints in Druids or similar, then off to a club.... Grubbs burger on the way home if still open.
