Boris was/is a moron, but it’s hardly a high benchmark to be a better public speaker than him is it…
In the opinion of every moron who voted for him in 2019 he was CHARISMATIC.

Well, he has more personality than Starmer, but that’s not necessarily a good thing. A loud, incompetent colleague has more charisma than a quiet, efficient one but it doesn’t make them better. Johnson fooled the electorate with his bumbling, coy act but privately had a nasty streak. He was, undoubtedly though, charismatic. Just not in any way I’d want as a PM.

Additionally, in 2019 he was up against Corbyn. He won votes by virtue of not being Corbyn.

Or (for the Magic Grandpa fans on this thread) Starmer is now PM because Corbyn lost to a Latin quoting, aristocratic moron.

They could just win back so much goodwill by saying “we’ve listened, and we’re postponing the WFA cut until next year, to give time for people to get their benefit credits claims in and budget for the year” etc.
Like I said, if this was going to earn the treasury £20bn for the (as far as I’m concerned still alleged) black hole I could maybe see the urgency. But it’s a drop in the ocean and so, so unpopular

To the guys who liked this comment, I’m not sure you perhaps realised this was a criticism of Corbyn, not Johnson… the guy was unelectable
Wishful thinking as I have already seen mocking u-turn memes in this thread and can only imagine what it will be like in the press. I'm of the view the Labour party will be criticised over pretty much everything they do from certain posters on here, some sections of society as a whole and most of the press......people who previously 'understood' austerity who are now opposed to it when it is applied by a different party via means tested WFA. I'm also of the view Labour should ignore the noise and get on with the job.

Well not from me, as I backed Labour (although I had to tactically vote Lib Dem), thinking they’d come in and calmly and quietly get on with things without making a show of themselves like the Tories had done. I don’t see that, I see a bit of a mess and their only major act so far a very unpleasant one.
From what I can see, there are many non-Tories in the two Labour threads who are highly critical of the WFP policy.
Of course, the usual one-eyed party political zealots on both sides are here too, living the dream.
You're a good bkloke, but have you actually looked at the detail of this? The vast swathe of people living on a pittance who are now living in fear for what this winter is going to bring them?
That's not what any decent society does.
The British economy is a Tory-ravaged mess, but we're still a wealthy country by most measures. Whatever option is taken to protect these poor vulnerable people will not cost a lot of money in the big scheme of things. It's pocket change
I want Labour to put things right. They'll probably need (at least) two terms to do that - the typical short-termism of politics inhibits many projects from reaching fruition because they take longer than one Parliamentary term.
I've spent much of this year in hospitals with my mum, who, although now home, is now a heavy user of both the NHS and social care. I have a 14-y-o working his way through our education system. I have a 21-y-o who has just finished university and looking to start her working career. I have many reasons why I want this country to enter a period of economic growth, fuelling a regeneration of our decimated public services.
But not at the expense of letting down some of the poorest and most vulnerable we have. People who deserve better.
