Found a pair of Giant Puffballs yesterday. Both about the size of a size 3 football.

Beautiful. The last one I found (before HS2 came along, and smashed up my secret mushroom field), I used to go and visit every other day and take a slice off to have with my dinner. Lovely.
Not been mushrooming this year but have seem them in field whilst driving but went and collected chestnuts and they were some of the best I have seen for many a year down here in Sussex

There’s a few I usually see in my cross-country walk to the Amex this time of year. These aren’t from this year but all in that area, no idea if they are edible but I find them interesting.

Third pic - Would need to cut the bracket fungus open to check, but looks like beefsteak fungus. If it is, then delicious sliced raw with soy sauce (most mushrooms you wouldn’t dare eat raw)

yes. I didn't pick it.
I've only eaten it once before, many years ago. It was as tough as old boots, is my memory, unfortunately. Mind you, the one I ate was already dripping the blood like fluid, so was probably past its best? The one in the pic above ( from a few weeks ago ) looked pretty fresh.

Thanks, I didn't know that, so will give it another try then.
The one I cooked, I cut it into chunks and put it in a stew. It wasn't pleasant, it has to be said.

By the way, if anyone is interested in learning about foraging and eating wild mushrooms, this guy near us (East Sussex/Kent border) is really knowledgeable and pretty entertaining on his guided walks

Can I have some help to id these please. They've just randomly come up in one of my pots that has a tomato plant in. Largest one is slightly bigger than 1p.

A slice taken off, so you can see what it looks like inside.
All cleaned up, after a managerie of Woodlouse, Centipedes, Millipedes, Spiders and Springtails released to the back garden!
It's a long cleaning job, and there's plenty of waste if being fussy, but as this one weighed in at just under 2kg, there's still plenty left for the pot.

Nice going!
I've only found Hedgehog fungus a couple of times. Both, many years ago unfortunately. Very satisfying rubbing those little spines off.
