Last Night of the Proms

Indeed. EU flags are hardly a 'protest' - more a show of solidarity and support. Which will be why they weren't banned!
Musicians work all over Europe in orchestras and the conductor was from Finland. It is definitely in support.

No, they are waved in protest against Br..... sorry! Mustn't use that word on NSC. What do you think all that blue flag waving outside Parliament for months after (that word again) were all about? Really? That gullible?

Many musicians in orchestras come from different countries. British musicians now have to apply for a visa in every country they perform in.
We all know you hated being in Europe, but take a breath, and think about how difficult it has made life for some professions, and have some empathy.
You are the epitome of I’m alright, Jack.
I’m annoyed with Keir Starmer, who, in saying, he would make Br…. work, has recently backed off renogiation of musicians rights.

Protest or support? Nobody forced the audience to wave a flag.

Not at all, I am suggesting it is different.

for me, the proms are all about classical music, not disco, not jazz, not film music. But I am a musical dinosaur preferring Mozart to mancinI. But hey….seems like that is how this is all going

not for me I am afraid.
I'm with you 100%. We had a similar discussion last year about the Northern Soul prom. In the old days you could pick any Prom and you knew you'd get 'proper' music. Nowadays it's the disco prom, the film music prom, the Dr Who(!) prom etc etc - and I hate it! Yes yes I'm a grumpy old man but I don't care. There's more than enough pop music festivals and pop music channels, why does it have to take over everything?

Anyway, re the Last Night I absolutely love the fact the traditional music pisses off one group of people, and the Euro flags piss off another group. As I've been pissed off by the way the whole festival is going I think it's only fair.
