These two were satire against racists if you are throwing them in with the Minstrels no wonder you are confused.
Its more that he is so PC conscious for other people to the extent of calling out a woman on a talk show for using the word mankind. It shows him as either very stupid or massive hypocrite which I guess shouldnt be too surprising for a politician.

I can't stand either of them.
To me you have just demonstrated one of the problems. The programme was MOCKING characters like this and not promoting that behaviour, AG was a well known lefty. People see something about race and assume it is racist. I have seen other people say that Ricky Gervais is racist cause of his David Brent character, the point of it is to mock and laugh and people that really do have those views.

Just arrived in Montreal for the last stop on a 2 week trip. On train up from Toronto there was a guy on his phone showing his friends multiple memes, all seemed to involve anti woke/Trudeau/Muslims etc.
It was the kind of stuff you expect in Trump land, but does show how indoctrination occurs, when you are bombarded with the same kind of messages.
Obviously different types of people in all countries but a bit sad to see that in the generally always welcoming Canada I've experienced in 3 trips over here.

A concise, 8 minute video explaining why Trudeau’s so unpopular. Another vote of no confidence to come - lots of speculation he’ll resign next week.
The biggest issues Canada is facing are a massive rise in the cost of living, specifically in housing. Grocery prices, house and rental prices are at record highs (inflation adjusted) and homelessness is consistently on the rise. Wages have not risen in line with these increases.
Relatedly, crime has increased massively thanks to decriminalisation of drug use and homelessness.
Trudeau targeted women and young voters with a progressive, feminist agenda (https://amp.theguardian.com/world/2016/mar/17/justin-trudeau-feminist-twitter-explodes).
Huge sums spent on green policies, legalising marijuana use was a key policy for young voters. These same young voters have now turned against him in droves, and his popularity with young voters has fallen from 72% when elected to 28% as of 2024.
That’s not even touching on the blackface controversy, the COVID f**k ups, the interfering in criminal corruption investigations into Canada businesses owned by his friends, the public relations fiasco with India…

The reality is that anyone who is a political leader for an extended period of time will become unpopular because people get bored of their leadership and/or have unreasonable expectations on what they're able to achieve in office. He's an excellent Leader but probably has been there slightly too long. I think the American tradition of 2 terms as president really should extend itself across the world as it would individuals trying to consolidate and hang on to power, whatever the cost. It should never be about personal ambition as much as it should be about the work of the office.

This is partly true, but the bigger issue at play is that the young voters have grown out of him and his policies. Voters who were 18-19 are now 27-28 years old, have left home and the realities of life have hit. They’ve been victims of crime, they can’t afford their rent, they’ve seen cities like Vancouver change immeasurably and public services being pushed to the limit with record immigration, record student intake, all concentrated in four major cities.
Most people don’t feel the same about the world aged 18 as they do pushing 30.

Which is why he's rightly dismissed as being a threat to democracy who should be trounced at the ballot box (for the third time) and hopefully he'll scuttle off.
He's been in office for too long and has become stale. If you've grown up with him as PM, it doesn't really matter what is happening any more - it's time for a change. It's healthy for a country to have new leadership and there's probably an argument a term should be 4/5 years maximum anyway to prevent people squatting in those positions of power.
