Sad news for you jazz aficionados the death of Benny Golson at 95 years old. I believe he was still playing until recently. An underrated tenor sax player but was probably more well known for composing a string of modern jazz classics like "I remember Clifford" "Killer Joe" "Along came Betty"etc Benny's solo on " Moanin'" sends shivers down my spine still.

I saw him a few years ago at the Pizza Express in Soho. As well applying great saxophone at that gig he also turned out to be a brilliant raconteur. His most recorded tune is "Whisper No"t which when lyrics were added was set to disc by many singers including Sinatra.
