Creatively, patience, we’re immense.
Vulnerability to the counter, I’m talking players clean through, bloody awful. Lose the ball anywhere in the opposition half and teams are creating one on ones seconds later.
I love Velts, but Velts/JPVH/Dunk together are being run past for fun.

We need to drop 10yds so teams don't get a free 30yd run on goal or sign defenders with pace

I’d imagine he would say our midfield need to go with the runners from midfield better.
The high line he deploys requires a midfield who are quick in the transition.

What I find a little concerning is that there’s not necessarily any distinctive patterns to our play yet and we rarely create situations where we have numerical overloads. Potter and RDZ were both very good at creating these situations, in particular RDZ would find ways to put Mitoma and March in very favourable attacking situations.
On the other hand, if you do have very obvious patterns of play, it does make it easier for teams to work out how to stifle you; again - as both Potter and RDZ found at various points in their time here.

The latter ideally (Boscagli?) because the ultra high line is central to the tactics.

Would help if our attackers could keep the ball better as well , lose the ball you are vulnerable to the counter attack

It’s difficult to keep the ball when you’re against 10 men who’re sitting behind the ball, and you have 5 of your own players up against those 10 men. There’s just no space.

Think it still down to the CM pivot to be in place when the risky pass is played. When the risky pass is played and cut out and that CM is 3/4 yards out of position we are often countered 3/2. Needs looking at but think that will come with time as it did with RDZ and his tactics.

Next signing needs to be a pacy CB.
I like the look of Weiffer. He's got the skill set to play DCM, but he's slow too. We need some real pace in that central defensive three (2xCBs + DCM).

Couldn't tell what happened for their second at all. Even as we were kicking off I was still in denial that it would be offside. Just watched it again and Velts was playing him onside by a mile. Slow getting out. Its always going to be Harum scarum playing a high line but even so with no reaction or recovery pace. I'm sure some tactical guru can fill me on on what the benefit of it is.

maybe some of that £200 million spent in the summer should have gone on a centre back with an iota of pace. one mistimed offside trap is all it takes, and we’ve conceded. absolutely zero ability to make recoveries in those situations

The issue is how wide the area that player is having to cover though. The gap between them and the next man in midfield is often huge, making it next to impossible to be in the right position all of the time.
