It's a really interesting idea. Don't know if I agree or not, would love to hear it discussed more
Careful what you wish for. When we were struggling in 2018/19 season we had two 0-0 draws. The two points accrued from those results were the difference between survival and relegation.

No. That match between Palace and Man Utd was an entertaining affair, and only a combination of the woodwork, wayward finishing, great goalkeeping, and dogged defending kept the ball from going into the net. It would be a shame to punish these two sides...hold on, that's a great idea.

Well I certainly wouldn't backdate the change!

At a closer view I imagine a lot of sides would make it 1-1 after a minute and then play the game, rendering the change completely pointless

Yes, but Cardiff City (who finished two points below us) had four 0-0 draws that season, so still would have been below!

3 points for a win, 2 points for a score draw, 1 point for a goalless draw.

But wouldn't have been as all other teams would have dropped points as well

Except that some other buggers would have been in the same boat.

I have just checked all the results of the 18/19 season, taking a point off for each 0-0

Here is the bottom 10

Watford 50 to 49
Palarse 49 to 45
Newcastle 45 to 41 (down a place)
B'muff 45 to 44 (up a place)
Bumley 40 to 37
Stains 39 to 35
BHA 36 to 34
Carduff 34 to 30
Fullem 26 to 25
Hudds 16 to 14

So hardly any change.

At the top the only change is Chelsea drop 2 places below Spuds and Arse.

I'm IN!!!

How about:
5 points for a 3 goal margin win.
4 points for a win.
2 points for a score draw.
1 point for a goalless draw.
0 points for a defeat.
Add 1 bonus point for any away win.
Lose 1 point for 5+ yellow cards in a game.
Red card counts as 2 yellows.
Should be easy to keep track.
