I'm off to the Pan Siro this afternoon for the Sussex El Classico between Lewes and Hastings United. I can't see anything other than a home win, but we'll see. I do love a trip to the Dripping Pan though, great ground.
You're not part of the 9am Wetherspoons breakfast club are you? They're getting the 10.30 train from Hastings and setting up camp in the Lansdown :drink:

Wallingford and Crowmarsh 2-0 Sandhurst Town - FA Vase Second Qualifying Round. Terrible game that finished at 5.15 due to a lengthy delay after two players went head first into the concrete barriers behind the goal, thankfully both seemed ok.

Ground number 45 was Rustington for their SCFL 2 clash with Upper Beeding

A fairly standard division 2 ground, which actually seems to be more like a social club that happened to have a football game going on next to it. The clubhouse is pretty good and one of the best in that league actually and much of the crowd were hanging out there and had half an eye on the game

Outside there's metal rails on two sides and rope on the other two. Otherwise it's just a park really. There is some outdoor gym equipment on one side giving Rustington the most shredded fanbase in the SCFL.

Rustington join the Bovril Hall of Fame by providing the brown nectar in a mug- joining Midhurst and Hailsham in that elite group. Pepper was also available but a succulent cup of Bovril did cost £2 which is above the going rate

The game was an absolute bloodbath and the home side set the tone by going 1-0 up after 2 minutes and didn't relent from there. It was 4-0 up at half time but it was the second half where they unleashed hell, and ended up winning 11-1, a score line that flattered the visitors to be honest

Newhaven
Newhaven 2 Lydd Town 2.
Lydd won on penalties after scoring an equaliser in the dying minutes of injury time, a free kick went straight through a very poor wall of Newhaven players.

Probably one of the worst penalties I’ve seen in the shootout, there is a very high net behind the goal, his penalty hit the very top of this net.
Not something I expected to see from Jake Robinson.

Just back home from flackwell heath where broadbridge heath went crashing out the second qualifying round of the trophy 6-1

Sometimes football can be miserable and the horse should have been put down second half

Got to forget that one and move on now

Well at least the Dockers seem to have put up a bit of a fight. Don't get me wrong l have a lot of time for Martin Garry and Newhaven, but YM are getting a bit fed up with playing you now, three times already, and the season is till only a few weeks old!

Talking of the FA Vase, Horsham YMCA succumbed to another embarassing defeat, this time 3-1 at Combined Counties outfit Camberley Town. Bizzarely although we seem to crumble when it comes to cup competitions, we are still doing reasonably well in the league. Just as well, as that's all we have left to concentrate on now!

Checked out the facilities yesterday at the recently opened "Knight & Davey Community Stadium", home to Wesfield FC of the Mid Sussex Premier League where Ringmer AFC were the visitors . Game ended with a 3-1 home victory . A decent game and better than I expected at this level with both teams being tipped to be in contention for the league title .
The club are waiting on planning permission to install floodlights and intend to build a club house alongside the changing rooms and also complete hard standing around all sides of the pitch with the possible addition of a 2nd stand , depending on planning permission again . Parking available but best to arrive early rather than miss out .
