It was quite funny when sung to Man U. Any big team with a bunch of plastics for fans deserve to hear this at least once every season from a 'lesser' team's fans.

It's pretty cringe when sung to anyone else (such as Wolves). Ipswich sung it to us to celebrate a 0-0

Unfortunately this is the way of football songs in the televised game and social media era. Every team have the same five or six songs with slightly different words. It's why we should cherish GOSBTS.
I hadn't thought of that. In that context I like it.

But other than that, folk should remember the rock from which we were hewn.

I think I’m right in saying we both need to know more on this subject 🤣

What a load of bollocks. Want atmosphere? then any chant is good. So what if you old farts don’t like it. We need more of this to get an atmosphere going. Its been shite bar Utd at home, so far this season, because too many fans are too judgy, as this thread proves, and our support are all middle class Dads.
Oi, you cheeky git! 😂 No, our support are not all middle class Dads!
I think the chant is shite, this maybe down to some trauma experienced after Wembley (not really trauma, but f**king annoying). We were in a train queue at a different station (as I thought I'd be clever & avoid the main station). It was raining & there were young kids in the queue, it was all we heard! Made worse by the group that pushed past kids in the queue, singing it while they shoved them out of the way.
It should be reserved for Man U only when they come to town. (y)
Yours sincerely
Not a middle class Dad! 🙂
Edit to add... It was being sung on the train back to Brighton as well!!!

When West Ham started singing that they knew what they were, champions of Europe I was pleasantly surprised by their self deprecating humour. But it soon became apparent that they actually meant it!

Norwegian Wood

Song by 4 blokes from Liverpool

We, have this young guy
Boy he can play, He's in our team.
He, showed me his skill
"Isn't he good, Jack Hinshelwood"

Or to the tune of Herman’s Hermits - I’m into something good

He’s a lad from our Academy
He gonna be special you will see
He grew up in our own neighbourhood oh yeah
He’s feet are magic, oh Jack Hinshelwood
He’s feet are magic. Oh Jack Hinshelwood.

We’re through the looking glass here, the whole crux of this chant and the subject matter of this thread is all down to the tune, put any load of bollocks to Sloop John B or Tom Hark and as long as it fits the masses will lap it up regardless of how cringeworthy it is.

Is it really any different to before, though?? Surely since football chanting began, chants have largely been repeated by any club able to fit the same syllables into it. I guess the old 'Go left right left' is very unique (I think?) as well as GOSBTS obviously. But on the whole, are chants really any less unique than they used to be?

Singing anything negative of the supporting efforts of Wolves c1,500 fans who bothered to travel mid week for a low budget league cup game that’s on the telly is simply backward
Incredibly, the view count for the extended 10 minute highlights of the match on da toob (You Tube) currently stands at 257k. Who'da thunk it back in the day?

This is age old to be honest, any decent atmosphere or singing in unison disappeared along with the North Stand roof.
I remember having a drink with some FC United fans after the 4-0 up at Bury and they were very complimentary about Brighton fans but then one of them piped up “yeah, but you’ve got a tired old songbook” 🤣
